    Re: Health Insurance?

I have been uninsured for years, and have been in the "application" process for public health care for quite some time now.

It gets to a certain point, then you start thinking, "shouldn't someone who is sick or injured just be able to be treated and get better?"

In the meantime I'm paying off 3 different emergency room bills.

    Update....................

    For anyone that is interested.
Here is a site that makes it really easy to find and compare quotes.
    https://www.ehealthinsurance.com/ehi/Alliance?allid=Goo18811&sid=HEALTH+INSURANCE+PLAN

I found that they had the same price as the individual sales reps that I talked to.

This is what I found was best for me and my wife at this time.

    Humana Policy:
    7500 deductible In/Out
    100% covered after deductible.
    Copay on Drugs

    Critical Illness & Life Policy:
$30,000 Life with 15,000 at my discretion if I have health issues.
It is like Aflac that you see in those commercials, if you ever wondered what that was all about.
If there is no reason to use this, after 20 years, there should be 8,000 that is mine.

    Accident Ins:
Deductible of $100.00...up to 10,000 coverage... basically if anything major puts me in a position where I need to pay that 7500 deductible, this kicks in, doesn't include the little doctor visits that count against towards that deductible.

My wife and I are covered for about 2750/yr.
Seems expensive but it is what it is for being self employed.

PM me if you have any questions of your own.
I hope I will remember all this crap when/if asked.

I still can't believe they can turn you down medical attention in the states because you don't have the money.

You guys just need to get illegal Canadian health cards.

Social Darwinism for you, we shouldn't be compassionate, we should just except the fact that society is weeding out the weak.
    ;D
Just kidding, but I know somebody would say it.

While I don't envy the American system, we have our own issues...like forking long wait times...

Thanks for the info, I am going to look into it. I have not had insurance for the past 7 years, so far I have been able to stay healthy and havn't needed to go in for anything(except a couple grand to the dentist but that wouldn't be covered anyway). The rates you are paying really don't seem that bad, especially for 2 people. Do you also have to contribute to the health savings account?
