Hey for any computer guys out there. I've got a question for you. I have Norton Antivirus which is a little out of date, I know this isn't a good idea to leave alone either. Well I have it automatically set up to scan my harddrive every night and it's never came up with a virus. Well I scanned it with one of those free scans and it came up with two viruses in Windows. One is a 'dialer-genetic' and the other is 'startpage-bn'.

So what exactly are my options? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about those two viruses.

But this is a free program, that does at great job at preventing pop-ups and viruses. This program should detect and elimante both of those viruses.

Those aren't viruses. It's spyware. There are free downloads for this.
Ad-Aware is a commonly used one.

usually free programs say stuff to get you to buy stuff from them later.

Will it remove the spyware if I d/l Ad Aware and scan or will it just let me know I have spyware

I agree with my two minute Tommy buddy. It is free and will remove it.

Should I d/l Enterprise, Personal, Professional, or Plus?

Grab Windows Defender real quick from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads to start off with.

another good one is spybot search and destroy. it gets most of the spyware out there, even gets some that ad aware misses. my dad actually has both programs running on his computer.
