This case was made out of premium recycled card board that someone famous lived in at one time.

Sells for way more than $30.00

It is so expensive because it is so customizable.
Need more vents, just cut open a flap screw the extra fans, make a flap.

    Re: Building Comp - Feedback

I just built a computer yesterday. Not really a gamer anymore but I will play some old school stuff now and then. I built this one to be easily upgradeable so if I every do buy any new games I just need a little more memory and video card. I spent $500 and got:

    Pentium D 2.8Ghz 2mbx2 cache
1 Gig DDR2 Memory Not sure the speed off hand but it was on sale $99.00
    Gigabit Motherboard w/ Intel Chipset
    200GB HD ATA
    Sony DVD+-RW Burner

It runs great and could be a sweet gaming machine for only a few hundred more. I didnt do SATA on the HDD because nothing I run requires the fast of data flow and it wasnt on sale. Although the motherboard has 4 SATA inputs. I was mad when I got home and practically had the whole thing built because I realised the board only had one IDE input so I had to run the HDD and DVD burner as master/slave

Yes, I wanted 2 IDE on my MoBo, but it didn't. I got a SATAII Hard Drive so I think I will be OK.
    6 SATA II connection.

    Your set up looks good.
Did you spent $$ on a Case/Tower or did you use the cardboard like in the picture above. Was the Case part of the $500.00?

    LOL

Case was a part of the $500. I think I spend $40 on it. Its a nice case too for that price. Solid black with silver buttons on the front and frontside USB connections

Fired it up, must have put it all together properly, it didn't explode.

It was relatively easy, now I need to figure out the Bios and OS.

Will tackle that in the AM.

    Re: Building Comp - Feedback

    well,

here's a few ideas, i think u allready got it though so they might be pointless.

I just put together a new pc as well, but went a slightly dif route.

    MotherBoard:
Got the Asus 5DL2 c. I got the Dual Core 2 intel 3,4 mgh.

    OnBoard:
10/100/1000 lan, WiFi, BlueTooth, 6x USB, 2x Firewire, 7.1 surround sound

I like intel over amd just for the non heat issues. I've had amd's and they can cause some heat issues with the mboard, esp if you have a higher end graphics card. and as i've seen so far some of the best silient cooling systems are on intel's. Nice thing with Asus is you can run 2x IDE, 4xSata, and 1x(4x raid).. this allowed me lots o combinations. have 3 bootable windows, (Xp pro (sata), Xp pro(ide), Win2003 Web Server(ide))

    Ram:
    went for 2x 1g 667 mgh

    Video: XFX Gforce (7600 gt/gs) 256 mg
    (can't remember atm)
I strongly recomended if you want to game not to use onboard video. it consumes lots of system memory!!

tower fans, I picked up 2 with glowing cables and chasey.

    Drives:
1x Sata 380g WD, 3x WD 80g ide (raid) (data storage)

    Rom:
    Plextor DVD/r/wr

without more bla bla.. it's a power house. I did go for the 550W power supply but i have 4 drives, Rom, and 3 fans (all silient) I' not sure yer gonna need that much power unless you plan on running more things inside the box.

all together it was a 550 buck purchase, I allready had the 19" LG TFT & 19" CTX big boy monitor. I luv dual monitors!!

2 things on setting up yer box.. Make sure u connect all power concters securley!! i've seen people blow up brand new boards cause of carelessness!!

some of the new boards require if you use the ide to install raid drivers for windows to install correctly. if you run into problems, check the mboard companies sup site.
