I don't know anything about sig making, but it looks good to me for your first try. The only thing I don't like is the colors (Bucs).

not always - depends on how much 'free' space there is in the sig. Like yogi said check out some sites and see what other fonts are out there - good site to try is http://www.highfonts.com/, as they have a large amount of free fonts available. Then you can match a font in for the style you want.
Also put a border round it too to finish it off finally. Good for a first sig though - keep practising !
