Good day, fellow Viking fans!
I've been a Viking fan since I can remember, watching them with my dad and uncle while I was growing up in Duluth. After finishing college, I joined the military and traveled just about everywhere, showing people around around the world that it's possible for a person to bleed purple and gold. At first I found it amazing that there were so many people from Minnesota in the military but then realized it made complete sense ... the upper midwest is a very patriotic lot. And yes, that includes the surrounding states - even that one to the east. At times it's been fun being a Viking fan in areas where it's not the local team. The biggest drawback has been finding merchandise, which the internet has pretty much solved. Still, there's something about being able to go to the store and buy something right then and there instead of waiting for a week or so for it to arrive in the mail.
I have passed the generation tradition on to my daughter and we watch Viking games whenever we can. My wife has also become a Viking fan - this is the only time I've been able to stand firm and she had do the comprimising! We host Viking parties for our friends on gameday and can't wait to be the ones to host it when the Vikings play in the big dance!
Cheers, everyone ... have a drink on me!
Here's to beer, women, and song .... may none of them be flat!
