Hey guys I'm new to the site.
Well actually have been reading all of your posts for most of the past season and have enjoyed most of them... Especially the T-shirt one and the Cheer Up Vikes on.
I have been thinking about starting to post for a while just never really got around to it.
However, the other day I saw all of your post about Tubby Smith and really just want to get in on the discussion.
The guy is a good coach but can't recruit worth a crap.
Also, just wait till Tubby ball really starts to sink in with his players, won't have any blowouts while he is trying to run out the clock with ten minutes to go in the second half.
Just wanted to introduce myself and get some feedback of what you guys really think of Tubby.

By the way you all can send that beer to Kentucky whenever you like.

By the way. Tubby seems to be getting close to God like status around these parts.

Welcome from one Kentucky resident to another.
Tubby is a HUGE step up from what the Gophers are used to in a coach. And as you might remember, we had another Kentucky coach come to Minnesota (Clem Haskins) and take us to the "Final Four."
Being in Kentucky, I see the remark that Tubby can't recruit but who knows what he was trying to do at Kentucky. One thing I will say is that here in Minnesota (which is far less than the Kentucky power house,) he has had the 7th best recruiting class for 2008 according to "Scouts, Inc." That is far better than Kentucky's class ranking this year. And have you noticed that not one of his assistants in Kentucky followed him. Maybe it wasn't all Tubby;s fault he couldn't recruit.
He has taken a team that only won nine games all of last year and half-way through the season beaten that mark with virtually the same players other than two freshmen. He may not go to the "Big Dance" this year but he has done wonders with a team that was terrible last year. Fans look for much better teams in the future and see NCAA tourney on the schedule beginning next season for the next few years.

Welcome to the site. As far as tubby goes, I think he is already starting to turn the gopher program around and next year they are saying he already has a top 10 recruiting class. Look for us to be back in the tourney in about 2 to 3 years! Go GOPHS!
