new (old) viking fan puts foot in purple door here...

Hey Guys & Gals,
Glad to be here, hope I can learn and maybe input some myself. My name is KJ and I live in Central Upstate NY (Syracuse area). Anyway been a Viking fan since I was 8 (1968) when my oldest sister went to the University of Minnesota and I went out there with my parents for orientation. Went by the Met, asked my Dad what the heck that was and he told me the Twins baseball team and Vikings Fooootball team played there. Ummmm, interesting I said.

Well that same year, I ficked through a channel on our (B&W) TV and lo & behold there was this line of scrimage shot of these Purple (I think, after all it was B&W) horned helmets and a whole line of cold foggy breath's shooting outward from their helmets. I was so stunned at that sight and will never forget that moment! anyway.. the ball then was then hiked (Vikes were on Defense) and Carl Eller shot around the end and got a sack. I was focused!, the camara then paned to the crowd, OK... I was sold it didn't take anymore. "When was the next Viking game on?" I asked my Dad. Being that I live in Bills (or Giants) Country I guess I have always been a rebel so I had no problem watching and telling my buddies about a Gene Washington Bomb being "the bomb" and I could care less about OJ Simpson (maybe I had good hinsight?) anyway besides the great D we had, I really liked (loved) everybody, we had such good chemistry (I know, over used word) but we did and who needed footwarmers, sideline heaters when we had Bud Grant? What a vision I have of him as a kid (and maybe some of you do too!) he was my favorite personality, I thought of him as the President of the US I'm telling you! Player wise... when we got Fran back (from NY Giants), then my bedroom had #10 all over it. In '69 we got a color TV (finally!) watched every game I could on NY States pro Giants TV schedule. I grew up as an athlete myself (6-4, 235 lbs) wasn't bad either in football and basketball but always kept up with the Purple... Satellite (C-Band), that's the big dish folks) in '86 has kept me watching every single game since, now it's the DBS version with Sunday Ticket (missing the preseason that the CBand provided) but at least I get to watch my beloved Vikings almost every time. R U Bored yet? sorry, I had to vent my purple youth pride!

Do I get a cold beer now? :shock:
