Hello everyone! I am purplejokr.
I have been a Viking fan since about 86-87. I was always a big fan of Anthony Carter's so I followed him to the Purple from Michigan. I can even remember the two stops he made in the USFL. Once Cris Carter arrived in 1990, I was hooked. Chris Doleman, DJ Dozier, Hassan Jones, Steve Jordan, John Randle, Hank Thomas, etc. I even remember seeing leather faced Jerry Burns prowling the sidelines back then.
Wow, it's been twenty years that I have followed this team with a passion and I am only 35!
My brother is a big Bears fan so you can imagine how we get when the two teams play one another! He posts a great deal on a Bears message board that he invited me to in 2005. That board is the MAIN reason that I had hesitated even googling a Vikings board.
You see, that Bears board can be annoying. It isn't because Bear fans are evil people or annoying people. That board is annoying because I have little tolerance for homers. As I posted on that board, I encountered several posters that refused to take a hard, objective look at their favorite team. That bothers me because that is what I am about. I will not delude myself into believing something that I cannot support with facts.
For example, when the Vikings' defense struggles against the two minute drill, I will not and can not persuade myself that they had a bad day. To me, clearly, this defense has lost focus against the Ravens and Steelers when those teams went to a two minute offense.
Now, this doesn't mean that I will not listen to arguments that oppose my line of thinking. I welcome those arguments when they are based in fact. I encourage those, really. I love a good, civil discussion about Viking football.
Sorry for the thesis...
I can be long winded at times too.
