Week 2 - Detroit Lions - Prediction Thread
This coming Sunday, September 20th, our beloved boys in purple travel to the dirty city of Detroit to take on a team coming off the worst season in NFL history.
We all know as a divisional team they usually play us tough.
What are your predictions for the game?
NO QB controversy here!!!
Vikings 31
Lions 17
CJ burns us for one TD, a random FG, and some fluke play for another big score...other than that our defense holds them in check.
I also look for Favre to upgrade his passing stats from last week, and in turn Peterson's rushing stats go down.
SKOL!

Re: Week 2 - Detroit Lions - Prediction Thread
This is obviously our second straight road game which we are expected to win, and that may be the best way to starts an NFL season. I think we will make it look tougher than it should be, but still walk away 2-0.
RO: I don't see anything that should stop us from using our bread and butter, and again posting up big numbers. Along the line Jackson is their only threat, although they do have much better LBs than the Browns. I would look for some power running with AD to set up tosses and stretch plays later in the game. I don't think wildcat will work against Peterson, Foote, and Sims. If Detroit tries to blitz us they'll be foiled. Their secondary can't contain Peterson, or Harvin for that matter.
PO: Favre could have a field day against this secondary, but he shouldn't need to. I think the matchups that favor us most are Harvin/Rice and Shank. Don't expect a lot of big plays from the passing game. The screen may work if they're blitzing, as will the playaction pass. Along the DL we should simply stymie them. More than 2 sacks would be disappointing.
RD: Smith is a tough runner but they simply don't have the OL to take care of our line. It should be classic Vikings D, with the DL eating blockers and the LBs cleaning up the mess. If I were them I would run outside to Griffin's side. I don't think it will be successful enough to matter though. Smith is a tough runner, but one thing about our defense is that they are great tacklers.
PD: This will pose at Detroit's biggest threat. I'm more scared of Pep than Stafford. I would expect a better team to come out passing, but not sure what we'll see from Detroit. Megatron should have a day and I can see Stafford throwing for two TDs, two picks. I'm usually worried about how we matchup with the TE, but Detroit is barebones at that position. They'll pass to WRs primarily, and Smith isn't too big of a threat receiving. Along the line I see Allen going off like he did last year against Detroit. 2 sacks.
ST:
I hope our kicking and returning success continues. Longwell is very solid and Reynaud is going to break one at some point this year. Buchanon is a decent PR and they may see some short fields because of it, but hopefully we aren't punting too often.
Overall I'm hoping our plan is to stick to Vikings football. We shouldn't need trick plays. Just run the ball a lot, pass effectively, and keep turnovers and penalties to a minimum. That should deliver us a win. I'm very interested to see how much Frazier decides to blitz the young QB. On one hand we can rush him into mistakes. On the other they have so few options that we can take away options and let our front four work for the sack.

;DI'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

Peterson puts up 150 yards and 2 touchdowns in the first half, Farve throws 2 more and we are up 28-3 at the half.
T jack plays the second half and we win 35-6."Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of

Favre tosses 3 picks and AD fumbles for a loss 2x.

Re: Week 2 - Detroit Lions - Prediction Thread
This game to me is as close a replay to the last weeks game as one can get.
I expect the same type of numbers from our running game, but our passing numbers should go up some.
I'll put the same outcome I did last week

No PR against our Speical Teams this week...

Don't know if this link will work. Peter King thinks the Vikes lose!

He also has the Bears over the Steelers and the Cowboys over the Giants!“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

I hope so but I have my doubts.
Didn't they get Yamon Figurs?
Hes a pretty respectable return man."There are 3 things that sell in America:
