My opinion is that this staff is one step ahead of most of us.
Maybe, just maybe, this kid was picked to be an insurance policy if for some unknown reason TJ doesn't pan out or gets hurt later on.
Don't ya think, don't ya?
;D
I did like what I saw not only from Tyler but all the rookies and second year guys.
Judging by what I saw (one preseason game) against the rams, we had a pretty good scheme defensively and offensively.
I know more points would have been a better indicator, however, when the starters left, we were ahead 3 to 0.
That my friend is not bad considering the fact that the Rams O was like in the top ten last year.
This staff is learning right along with these young kids.
Strap it on.
Gonna be a fun year.
;DMany many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Tyler Thigpen - A steal as a 7th round pick?
i think bollinger might be in trouble.
i heard on mike and mike in the morning last week that we are still the front runners for kelly holcolmb.
it was mortensen who said it.
bollinger does sound like he has been throwing an alarming amount of picks in training camp so.... i mean it might have just been mortensens opinion but he did say it.

I've now watched the game twice, as broadcast on NFL Network.I think this is worth discussion after watchin him play Friday night.
Is he a steal as a 7th round pick? Does he have what it takes to be a starting QB in the future?
IMO after watching the game Friday night, Tyler Thigpen really stood out as did McCauley & Robison.
That guy, IMO, has the makings of a great QB. I liked him better than both Bollinger & Henson. If we cut this guy, it's going to be a mistake.
If you saw the game or taped it, he was very accurate with his throws, with one exception & he had a lot of zip on his passes. Some of them were dropped, but should have been easily caught. Plus the guy can run.
If you taped the game, go back & watch his play again & I think you'll agree.
McCauley really stands out, and, if he can play like that, we have a huge luxury being able to put Winfield on quick slot receivers with 3 CBs on the field.
The more you watch him, the more it seems that he was purely reacting with his instincts...which is even more encouraging.
Robison's play is exactly what I remember from Texas.
Non-stop motor, seemingly always in the middle of the action, sometimes overruns plays.
It's gonna be tough to keep him off the field.
I thought Edwards also stood out.
No sacks, but, two pressures and two holding penalties trying to block him.
He looks like he added some bulk in the off-season too.
Totally agree with you re: Thigpen.
Had no idea what to expect, dug out as many scouting reports as I could find.
They cited him mostly as resourceful, and big hearted.
I was stunned by how strong his arm is.
Seems like he's got alot of velocity on the ball.
That said, he's still a 7th Rounder, but, he really looks like a diamond in the rough so far.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

As a matter of fact, I do know

Re: Tyler Thigpen - A steal as a 7th round pick?
I agree Bolly is in danger of losing his job.
Thiggy looks good.
He showed a lot of toughness shrugging off that tackle and having enouogh sense to run for the 1st down.
I enjoyed watching him.

Re: Tyler Thigpen - A steal as a 7th round pick?
Henson is the only guy that is going to lose his job.
Chilly won't go into the season with Thigpen being the backup.
My brother said at one time that he heard Chilly say that he didn't want to keep more than one QB on the roster.
Hmmm that is interesting!
Probably end up with 2 on the roster, TJ and BB.
What is the deal with the emergency QB roster spot???

Maybe that has something to do with that.
In all honesty, I never heard he would only keep 1 or 2 QBs.
I thought there would be 3 and maybe 1 on the PS.

Re: Tyler Thigpen - A steal as a 7th round pick?
I failed to mention that Thigpen will be on the practice squad as our third QB.
Atleast I hope he is.
I made the same comment about Thigpen's arm in the BY yesterday morning during the NFLN replay of the game.
I asked Shock and singersp if his arm was as impressive in person as it was on TV.
He threw an out to someone, and it was on a rope.

The issue here when it comes to how many QB's will we keep on the 53 man roster comes down to questions at alot of other positions as well."snowinapril" wrote:

Will they keep 3 QB's on the roster at the expense of say an extra WR, CB, DE or OL?
Just alot of decisions to be made as the coaching staff sorts through the pro's and con's of who they keep on the 53 man roster, 8 man practice squad.
No matter what they do, IMHO, someone will be let go that will piss somebody off.
Additionally, that player, whoever they let go will probably be snatched up right away as well. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

We have more preseason games we'll play before cuts need to be made. This was 1 pre-season game. Let's see how they all do next week.
