Looking for a Tailgate for DET game Oct12

Hey Vikes Fans, I am on a Quest for 31 - my journey to attend a game in all 31 NFL stadiums as a home team fan.
I'll be in Minnesota on October 12 when the Detroit Lions are in town to be slapped around by your vikings.
Should be a really good game, especially since I'm a Bills Fan stuck living in Detroit for the last seven years.
I'm really looking forward to watching the Lions get slapped with a big "L" out your way.
Anyway, I was wondering if there are any great tailgaters I might check out or hang out with during my stay.
I usually write a review about my experience on my website and I try to include some local hotspots and can't miss types of experiences that somebody new to the area needs to check out.
Do you guy have any suggestions on what I should be checking out in MIN?
Either at the stadium of in the twin cities?

PP.O tailgates in Purple Lot 1, directly across from the Metrodome and the Party on the Plaza.
You won't find a better crowd to tailgate with.
Come out and enjoy some hospitality, Grain Belt Premium, and Jello Shots on us.

Usually underneath the big billboard. Just look for the Purplepride.org banner.

Any suggestions on Parking?
Can I get a parking pass in advance?
Where would i get one?
Is there paid parking onsite?
Will I have trouble finding a spot?

Also, where are you staying.
I would recommend staying down at the Mall of America and taking the light rail into Minny Sunday morning. $6 for a less than 30 minute ride, and you are dropped off directly in front of the dome (and our tailgating spots).
If you haven't been to the MOA before, it is worth checking it out IMHO.

Some others on this forum prefer to stay downtown - I am sure they can give you the pros and cons of it.

Parking in the tailgating lots is sold as season passes only, but there is plenty of parking ramps and lots in the immediate vicinity, and you can walk into the tailgating lots.
They usually cost about $15-20.
PP.O has 4 spots there, we use three of them for the tents/grills/etc and one for the Webby's truck (which hauls it all).

Also, check out my other post regarding the light rail from the MOA.
It is nice not to have to fight traffic on the way in or out of the city...

Hey Thanks Much.
I ended up Pricelining a hotel room downtown.
Ended up with two nights at the Hyatt Regency downtown for $70 per night.
I was pretty pleased.
I'd like to bring my truck down there anyway.
I ususally put up my Quest for 31 flag, and it's nice to have a place to stash stuff.
It makes for some great pictures, and after I've had a few, the flag makes it really easy for me to find my car.
