    Hola, Pats Troll Here

    Hello Board,

Pat Troll here, but recently relocated to the Twin Cities.

Looking forward to next Monday night.
    Should be an excellent game.

I've been reading through your posts.
FYI...a lot of those Patriots you've identified on the lookalike thread...umm..aren't with the team any longer.
That roster is from last year.
In fact, I think Roman Phifer has retired.

All this said, if any of you are real football Geeks and want to see some interesting game analysis, some takes on Laurence Marony's peformance and return to the Twin Cities, analysis of the Vikes, etc., then check out the Patriots official site.
    There's a lot of video.
Interviews with Laurence Maroney, Tom Brady and Bill B.

I think you'll like to hear what they have to say about the Vikes.
Especially, you'll want to hear what Belichick said about your loss to the Bears.

(If you watch the Brady interview, don't be confused by the beginning.
He's answering a question about how many time he played in the dome during college.
    Brady played for Michigan.)

    Skol.
Look forward to talking about the game with you.

I root for the Pats, mainly.
It would be pretty impossible for me to give up my allegiance to that Team.
They're the first team I ever really felt invested in.

But...as far as the NFC goes, I root for the Vikes.
And I live here, so I have some level of investment in the Club.

I'll be honest with you, at first I was very bummed, thinking I was going to be stuck watching Mike Tice prowl the sidelines.

Very smart move of Wilf to get Childress.
    Excellent choice.
(Though at first I had hoped that he would try to lure Charlie Weiss away from Notre Dame.)

But Childress shares that same quality that Belichick has.
    Tough, smart, no-nonsense.
Not a real screamer, "motivator" type.

But a genuinely strong and motivating man.

So, it's become fun to watch the Vikes games.

    Welcome, Welcome!
I think after this game you might want to make the Vikes the team you "root for mainly".
I have nothing but respect for the Pats but they are going to be 5-2 along with the Vikings.

    The Reason, you ask?
    Well, it's simple.
Our lines (both sides of the ball) will man-handle the pats lines.
The Patroits are mainly a rushing team and they will no room to run against this defense.
Meanwhile Tom Brady will be under pressure all day and really be feeling the loss of Deion Branch.
I say he throws 2 TDs passes and Gostowski nails a mid-level FG while Bethel Johnson gets revenge and returns one 90+ yards for a TD to accompany 2 Longwell FGs (one on the opening drive) and a Chester Taylor TD run.

If you're 2nd grade math teacher was proud of you then you know my predicted socre and if he or she wasn't then I'll tell you it's 20-17.

I've got pretty good tickets to the game and I'm excited to see my team 5-2!
But like I said, I respect the Pats.
When it s all said and done, you ll have to admit we re number 1!

    Yes, that's the site.
But that's only one of 3 videos you should watch.
There's also an interview with Brady where he talks about the game and there's general video that features a long interview with none other than Laurence Maroney.
And there's quite a bit of highlight footage on Maroney.
So, I'm thinking that Gopher fans might enjoy seeing that, especially given how difficult it is for Gophers players to get recognition.
    Who knows?
    Maybe Maroney will help.

I've seen a couple of posts here and there on this site that mention that you all can't wait to have reason to "be glad you passed on Maroney."

Certainly, I think it's hard for any back to single-handedly overcome an excellent run-D (which the Vikes have), and I don't expect Maroney to tear up the field on Monday because of that.
Like other smart teams, I expect that Childress will stop the run and put pressure on Brady to win it with his new, untested receivers.
That would be the smart thing to do.
So I fully expect the Pats run game to stall on Monday.

This said, whatever happens, but I do know that Patriots fans are thrilled with Maroney, for good reason.

It's funny, because last year when I could barely stand to watch the Vikes, I did catch some Gopher games on T.V.
And I kept thinking...Damn, why can't the Pats get a great running back like that.
When Maroney fell to the Pats, I was elated.

So...there'll be some good side-stories here.
Really, if you get a chance, you should check out the official Patriots website and watch all of those videos.
    I think you'll enjoy them.

(BTW, I'm hoping the Vikes put up some press conferences with Childress on the upcoming game, soon.
But I'm guesssing the Vikes are a little bit behind due to the Monday Night game.)

But like I said, I respect the Pats.
Well, I basically agree with your analysis on a lot of points.
I do think the strategy for the Vikes has to be to force New England to win it through the air.
But, each week the Pats pass game has improved.
Brady's starting to look more comfortable with these guys.
Forcing Brady to take the game in his hands may not be the easy answer the Vikes might hope for.
Remember...Great Quarterbacks aren't great all the time.
They're great when they have to be.
    And Brady is a G R E A T Quarterback.

I do think that the Vikes O-line is outstanding. Hutchinson is a beast.
    As is McKinney.

By and large, I like the Vikes whole Defense, but I don't know that much about the Vikes D-line per Se.
I see that Pat Williams is a starter at DT, and I knew Williams from his Buffalo days.
    Williams doesn't particularly scare me.
I really don't know anything about the rest of the Vikes D line.
Otherwise, I know that the Vikes LB corps was maligned in the preseason, but they've shut a lot of people up.
    For good reason.

But I'll be surprised if your lines "man-handle" our lines.
The Pats lines, both Offense and Defense are also very good.
The Pats D-line features 3 first-round draft picks...Richard Seymour, Ty Warren and Vince (Booger) Wilfork (who when he's not picking his nose on television is quietly growing into the league's most dominant classic nose tackle in the 3-4.
Funny, the irony of that had been lost on me until just this moment.
Anyway, all of these first rounders have proven to be worth their draft pick.

The Pats O-line is young, battle tested and accomplished.
I wouldn't count them as push overs.
The O-line is far better than the Pats O-lines during their championship seasons.

A big question is how many of the Pats wind up playing this week.
We have a lot of questionable players.
Then again, Patriots injury status reports are known throughout the league as great works of fiction.
So I don't know how much that will tell you.

We may be hurting in our secondary, but it really depends on the injuries.
If they're healthy, our secondary has played very well.

All said... I really don't know what to expect.
Other than I certainly don't expect a blowout by either team.
I think if a blowout were to occur, it would be due to one of those "freak" games where weird mojo creates a some series of improbable events and the thing just snowballs.
    Like...weird turnovers or ticky-tacky calls.

I think home field advantage is huge in this game.
I'm sure the Pats will be working hard to figure out how to handle the dome noise.

As for my "main" allegiance, I doubt that will change. At least not until Belichick is long dead and buried in his grave.
But...dude...I grew up a Bears fan.
Considering myself now a Vikes Fan is enough change for one year.

    Dontcha know?

    You should rethink that statement.
PAt Williams is probably top 3 in the league for run stopping.
He takes up so much room and is a beast.
    That's a fact!
