Brian Billick "the worst offensive coach in the history...

    of the NFL?"

So says a poster on a Bengals forum:

"Billick might be the worst offensive coach in the history of the NFL. Billick is the man who decided Kyle Boller was a franchise quarterback. If not for Marvin Lewis and Ray Lewis' carrying the Ravens to a Super Bowl title, Billick would be in the unemployment line."

I guess he didn't see what Brian did when he was here with the Vikes in 1998, etc...

He had a great offense with the Vikings, but his offenses have been anemic in Baltimore. Maybe it was more Denny Green than Billick?

He was only the Offensive Coordinator that had the greatest regular season ever scoring wise!

So how do you explain his current putrid offense? His offense in Baltimore has never been even decent. During their Superbowl season they went 4 straight games without a touch down at one point. I am not saying he is the worst offensive coach ever, I can think of a few candidates that would take the cake easily in that category, I am just kind of baffled that after seasons like 1998 his offensive prowess seems to have vanished.

He had an all star cast with that o-line, thunder and lightning, RC, and three deep starring the rookie Randy Moss.

He had all the peices of the puzzle:

    A great O-Line
    A good QB that year
    Robert Smith
    Cris Carter
Randy Moss: Nobody had a scheme for this guy
Gary Anderson: Never missed a FG (until it really counted)

What does he have in Baltimore that even comes close to that? Offense aside, he did win a Super Bowl.

I don't really care how good of an O-line coach he is. He was the OC for the highest scoring team in history and took his team to a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer as the QB and very little talent on the offensive side of the ball. To me, those two qualifications should give him employment for life.

There was something that I read saying that if Baltimore doesn't go far in the playoffs, he might end up back with the Sheriff in Phoenix. Maybe he's a better O coach than a head coach.

That '98 season though, we did break a long standing record for the most points scored in a season, and still didn't make the Super Bowl. If you have the talent, it still takes someone to coach it and make it all come together. Billick brought all that talent together and look what happened.

If not for taking the knee????? What's up Sheriff??
