    C'mon serious?
    Not a chance?
That's exactly what the Cards were thinking in their home opener as well...
They put up their NFC Champ banners, their stadium was so loud we couldn't even audible, and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Some of you Vikings fans seem to give no respect to the niners, just as the Seahawks, Cardinals, and no one else in the NFL did either...
Well guess what, this team is for real, and if you take us lightly, you will be disappointed...
I'm not saying that we're going to come in and beat you guys 100%, but I'm at least acknowledging that it will be a tough game and will not be a cake walk by any means...
Hopefully if we beat the Vikings, THEN we will finally get some respect and teams will have to give us credit for winning instead of rationalizing why the other team lost.

And some of you fans are also trying to discredit us by saying the Cards were on the superbowl hangover and the Seahawks aren't good, etc...
Basically just reasons why the other teams lost instead of why the 49ers won, as expected.
However, last time I checked you guys beat the Browns and the Lions....
Lions are arguably one of the worst teams the NFL has EVER seen in the HISTORY of the game, and the browns are most likely going to be in the bottom 10 teams in the NFL.
It's funny how you knock us for our opponents when your opponents are even worse (Seattle + Arizona > Browns + Lions)

Anyways, the main reason I remain optimistic about this game is because of our defense...
We have been exceptional at stopping the run last year, and we look even better this year.
We also have a very good secondary that has 4 starting caliber CBs.
With a solid defense that can stop the run AND pass, you'll always have a chance to be in the game.

I'll admit that I am a little bit worried about your defense.
The williams brothers are phenomenal in the middle and you have one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.
I don't know what to make of our offense yet, as it's only been the 2nd game in this system.
But one thing for sure is that we were MUCH better week 2 than in week 1, and hopefully we can keep that going.
I think this will be a low scoring game, and the game will be decided in the 4th quarter.

    Good luck!
You can bet your life's savings that the Vikings aren't taking you lightly, nor is anyone with brains.
I personally have you guys pegged for winning your division this year, and have thought so since before the season started.
A couple of my friends called me crazy for believing this, but I think you're going to continue to prove me right this year.
Going into the season, you were the most gruesomely underrated team in the National Football League.
You've got a strong defense and you're playing in a soft division (the Cards overachieved last year).
In fact, you're the only team in the NFC West that I think is capable of winning a playoff game.
Anyone who's surprised that the 9ers are 2-0 right now quite simply wasn't paying attention.
But now I think the league is starting to take notice.
You can bet that AD remembers you just fine, and is itching for payback.
Don't count on us being complacent - good teams are able to recognize other good teams when they see them.

That being said, I'm gonna pick my Vikings to win this one.
You're not going to hold AD to three yards again.
A lot of people forget that the same week you did that, a certain Chester Taylor ran for 101 yards and a touchdown.
You also forget that we won the game anyway - by three scores, no less.
So your performance, though impressive, wasn't quite as good as it seemed.
To be fair, you have improved significantly since then.
But we've improved as well, as has Peterson.

Even if you do contain the run (notice I don't say "stop"), I think we're well-equipped to run a classic West Coast offense.
If Favre is able to have another game like he did yesterday, we can win.
I'd like to see us connect on a couple deep passes, too.
We won't do it often, though - especially if there's room underneath like there was against the Lions.
In that case, we had wide-open short routes, and we took that all day.
Of course, our success all depends on our offensive line's ability to protect Favre long enough to get the ball away.
If you can get to Favre, things will be a lot more difficult.
I'm not predicting us to score 34 points like we did against the Browns, though.
Your defense is too good to just roll over like that.

Your offense, by contrast, is about where ours was two years ago, and to a lesser extent, last year.
Shaun Hill is average, and I can't really think of any weapons you have besides Gore.
It'll be good enough to win you games this year, but I'd say that our offense has the edge over yours.
But offenses don't face off against each other, they face off against the defense.
These are two strong defenses with terrific front sevens facing off against each other.
11 men against a brick wall - you've just gotta chip away at it.
I think our team will chip through first.

I think the Vikings will win, but I'm not sure of the score.
If I were a betting man, though, I would bet "under" on the over/under, whatever it is.

I'm looking forward to next week.
It's about time my Vikings got a real challenge.

QB - Edge - Vikings. Favre may i say more?
    Agreed.
Although he is prone to mistakes.

HB - Edge - Vikings. Gore is good but no where near AP and coffee is no where near CT
Gore is a monster but I agree, AP is a revolutionary running back.
Luckily for us, there's more to a running game than just the back.

WR - Edge - Vikings. When healthy our recievers can burn just about any team
I don't know much about the Vikings receivers but I'll say that this is a push because we have some very talented young receivers not to mention Bruce is still productive.
Unfortunately not many people will know this until we have a good passing game.

Oline- Edge - Vikings. I really dont follow oline so i dont know anybody on the 9ers but our oline is pretty good.
You're probably right on this one also, I haven't had a chance to see your team play other than AP highlights... Though it looks like he's making big plays on his own ability rather than good O-line play.
Our line had good blocking last week against the Seahawks, but really faulter in pass protection.

TE - Edge - Push. Davis is a beast but shiance is coming up fast
TE edge definitely goes to the 49ers.
VD can and has been a major threat in the passing game before and he is probably the best blocking TE in the league!
Unfortunately again, with no passing game, it's hard to showcase his talent.
One of the strongest players on our team, and he also ran a 4.3x (.38 or .39 I think) in the 40 which = game changing matchup problems.

Dline - Edge - Vikings. Williams wall plus allen is enough but edwards seems like this is his year to sneak up on everyone
    Advantage Vikings.
LB - Edge - slighty Vikings. 9ers have willis but altogether we have the edge]
Despite having the best middle LB in the league (arguably) we also have a very well rounded group as well as DEEP depth... Advantage 49ers.
secondary - Edge - 49ers. I like our secondary but 9ers are better with clements and company
    Agreed lol.
Special teams - Edge - push. No one dominates in special teams but allen rossum and harvin can take it back just about any time

I agree with this as well.
Our kickoff coverage has been suspect lately though, we're allowing far too many yards on kickoff coverage.
Me thinks part of it has to do with Nedneys leg.
He's precision accurate on FG's, but rarely kicks touchbacks.

Should be a good game but i expect a blowout
    A blowout?
No disrespect intended but I definitely don't see a blowout... So far all we have to go off of is two games each this season and I didn't see you guys blowing out the Lions, and I definitely don't see you blowing us out; at the Metrodome or otherwise.

I don't think it will be a blowout, and I'm not trying to show homerism here but:

    Vikings will win.
49ers have a good team, but beating the Vikes in the dome is not an easy feat.
If the Vikes can limit their mistakes, I have no doubt in my mind that the Vikings will win.
Willis will have a good game, but will not be able to stop AP.

    Vikings 20, 9ers 14.

    Re: 49er fan here!

This match up comes down to two things.
Our average pass defense vs. their below average pass game.
Our Elite run defense vs. their Above average rushing game(inconsistant).

I think we can stop Gore with more frequency than they will stop AD + CT(remember his 87 yard rush)
    Advantage Vikes.

Is it me or does San Fran remind anyone else of us the last couple years, a solid running game, shutdown D, but a QB away from being a legit contender??

respect your opinions. It was a blowout our last meet while peterson was shut down. cant see him getting shut down this game and I just expect the same outcome. maybe im wrong it just might be closer than i think

The 49ers are monsters this year, and would be right at home in the Black and Blue division.
Don't sleep on Willis, boys, he's the All-Day of defense, and is the only player in the NFL right now that I can see rising up and shutting down Purple Jesus.
    He's THAT good.

This will be an ugly, low scoring game determined by turnovers.
Don't cough up the ball or throw it to the wrong team, and you'll probably win.

I've watched both of the 49ers games, and they're looking nasty on defense.
There's going to be some banged up guys after this one, and if our run defense doesn't remember what they were like the last couple of seasons, Gore will gouge us.

It's going to be an awesome game.
Unstoppable force meeting the immovable object.
    Skol Vikes!

I think the 2007 team you faced was much different than right now.
The 2009 49ers are playing inspired football.
