MANKATO —

The Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota State University announced a three-year deal to keep the football team’s training camp in Mankato Tuesday.

“It’s a great event for the team, the fans and the Mankato community,” said Steve LaCroix, Vikings vice president of sales and marketing.

The Vikings announced this year’s camp schedule during a press conference in Blakeslee Stadium on campus. The event will kick off with a block party in downtown Mankato July 29, with Vikings Village opening and the first open practice taking place Aug. 1 at MSU.

There will be just one paid event this year, a night practice with the Kansas City Chiefs Aug. 4. Tickets will be $10.

Also, Midwest Wireless will stay on as the title sponsor of the camp this year and next.
