I think very close. I believe the actual land the Metrodome sits on & possibly the dome itself is owned, at least in part, by the Trib.

thats a shame, I was hoping the land was where the Strib offices were.. then they could re-locate all their hacks to Green Bay where they belong

Ten bucks says that the Strib suddenly starts supporting a stadium downtown.
They did the same thing with the Metrodome.
They were firmly against a new stadium funded by a "regressive" sales tax (because property taxes are so much more fairly applied).
After the developers offered to buy Star Tribune land to build the dome, their opinion suddenly changed and the World's Largest Toilet Bowl was constructed.
Ironically, it still doesn't contain enough bathrooms.

long lines to the bathrooms, vendors?
Bad sight lines?
no tailgating?
impossible to get out after the game, thats why so many fans leave early even if the game is close?
The dome was a complete mistake from the beginning, only one more team before we can blow up that P.O.S.

The sightlines are fine for football.
I haven't had a single problem getting to the bathroom.
I park 3 blocks away and am in my car and heading down 35W 15 minutes after the game is over.

I like the Dome because it is loud, because it is centrally located with egress points heading in all directions and because I can feel my toes after games in December.

The BAD part about the Dome is the lease.
The Vikings are 32nd in the league in monies generated from their stadium and that's ALL due to the crappy lease with the Metropolitan Sports Commission.
A better lease, a few improvements and, honestly, I think the Dome would be a great place to play for many years to come.

I never thought I would see this day, I agree with purpleride.
The dome is a p.o.s. and ranks right up there with the worst hell-holes to see an NFL game, even more so for an MLB game.
The day they tear that place down can't come soon enough.

Is there a worse NFL stadium?
Maybe one.
Sure, there is an advantage with noise levels, but that doesn't change the fact that the dome is a crappy place to see an NFL game on a relative basis.
I haven't been to a stadium that is worse.

Seattle has a louder stadium and it is open air and natural sound not piped in through the speakers.
The met was a significant home field advantage, the dome is bad for the fans, terrible for the team.
It does not generate enough revenue and it has noting to do with the lease.
No club level seats, not enough box seats, not enough concession stands for the fans.
Go to the xcel energy center and see what a real stadium/arena is like.
The dome was outdated before they even built it.
Lets all meet up in 2012 and help tear it down
