    Young Defensive Players no Excuse

Thomas EJ Williams u guys have nothin to say about this

TRUFANT, Barnett, Bailey, D. HAll, Tillman, Vasher,

    I can go on

all these guys excelled in their 1st years.

Why cant brian williams cover an average receiver?

I know Tillman kicked mosses ass this and last year

    he kicked it real bad

Brian Williams is the best we've got, and I dont exactly know how well you wanted him to do his rookie year considering he was drafted in the 4th round and only started 7 games. Considering that EJ didnt even start a game last year, this is basically his rookie season, and I think he is doing a fairly good job too, then again, I am not sure what exactly you are expecting from him. A lot of the people that you listed did well because they didnt have as much pressure on them. E.J. was supposed to come in and replace Beikert and lead the defense. That is a lot to take on while you are still trying to adjust to the pro game.

    Young Defensive Players no Excuse

That's BS bdubya because Nick Barnett for the pack, DJ Williams, Terrell Suggs, any member rookie or not of the pats defensive secondary.have come in and done a good job....Its no excuse for EJ to be screwing up like he has....Especially with the missed tackles and blown assignments....For goodness sake its the 15th week of the season....He's not a rookie anymore....

You can't tell me Troy Brown of the Pats has had more time in the defense than EJ (sorry for the position comparison) and he is tied for the team lead in Picks....It's the basics they have been doing since training camp and he still doesn't get it....how long has he been tackling? since Pee-wee and he still misses tackles...???
    there's no excuse

    Young Defensive Players no Excuse

Maybe its coaching, because he wasnt doing things like this when he was one of the best players in college. Maybe I am just trying to find excuses for him. I want the Vikings to have a good young player at LB, and E.J. has all the makings to become that, so I will continue to cut slack to any player that has a big upside until it is completely obvious that they cannot cut it.

darrel jackson is way above average... i think Brian Williams is one season away from being in the top 15 corners in the league... and if we got one more good corner in the off season he would be a great nickle back corner...

EJ true...he is off and on, but when he is on LOOK OUT! I think he is one season away from being great too...

next year EJ and Brian will be great contributors... all the time... i am very optimistic about them, kevin williams and udeze...

Williams is improving, Henderson hasn't turned it on, and being in your second year is no excuse.

...ask Nick Barnett - there's a name that disappeared from the headlines in a hurry.

Hey, its hit and miss in this league.
I would think Udeze is playing quite well.
As Kevin Williams is in his second year, leading all NFL DT's with 10 sacks so far. That was his total for last season.
    Mckinnie is doing well.

So, our last three #1 picks are doing an outstanding job.
Don't forget about O. Smith in the 3rd round two years ago. Or M. Moore this year in the fourth round.

So, maybe several players are not up to expectations, but that is usual.
Tice however, is not up to expectations with the talent pool we have.

    Young Defensive Players no Excuse

Expecting all our rookies to come in and perform like a few of the better ones in the league is icredibly unrealistic. Personally I think we are lucking with the production tat our rookies have been giving us the past 2 years, save for E.J.

Winfield is the best we have!
