House Committee Passes Stadium Bill

A bill devoting public money towards a new Vikings stadium got through the House Taxes Committee on a 15-13 vote Tuesday.

The vote came after five hours of committee deliberation and amendments that capped the public contribution at just below $1.1 billion for two stadiums.

“The Vikings still have some concerns about the financing in the bill but the good news is the bill is moving forward and we have time to work on it,” said Mike Kelly, Executive Vice President.

The bill now heads to the House Ways and Means Committee. A companion bill gets its first consideration in the Senate State and Local Government Committee on Wednesday.

I'm too young to remember the days when Vikings home field advantage meant frostbite instead of turf toe, but it sounds great. I just hope they don't close up the roof when it gets cold. Any ideas for what the name should be? (God, I hope it's not named after some corporation)
