Yahoo Sports "Lock of the Week"

    Lock of the Week

Minnesota over Chicago. This could be a considered a trap game for the Vikings against a division rival who will pull out all the stops in an attempt to play spoiler, but again, it comes down to line play, which never goes into slumps. The Vikings are a dangerous potential wild-card team because of the "run and stop the run" formula, and they deserve this chance to show how good they are in prime time. The Metrodome will be rocking on Monday night, and the Bears will have Kyle Orton leading them in there.

The Bears' defensive line continues to be a mess, and the Vikings' offensive line will overpower them, just like they did in Chicago earlier this season, when Adrian Peterson (the rookie Viking) ran for big chunks of yardage at will. On the other side, the Bears' front five has struggled equally with run blocking and pass protection, and the push against Orton will lead to those typical Vikings takeaways by Darren Sharper and friends. Vikings 27, Bears 13.

??? That's more of a lock than the NE (13-0) vs NYJ (3-10) game?

I don't see how any game can be a lock in the NFC Norris Division

    yes
Hard to believe if that doesn't include the point spread.

The Vikings are 10 point favorites & the Patriots are 23.5 point favorites.

IMO, if it's straight up head to head, not counting the spread, the larger the actual predicted spread is, the more of a lock it should be

Re: Yahoo Sports "Lock of the Week"

I personally think that special teams is the wild card in this game. Hester is obviously extremely dangerous, and can change the complection of a game on any return.

But still ... I see us winning this. I just don't see Kyle Orton coming off the bench for the first time since 2004 and beating us in the (very loud) dome, particularly when Chicago has no real legitimate rushing threat (it will be funny to see "Adrian Peterson" on both sides of the ball, too). No running game + no real passing game = not moving the chains.

When we have the ball: expect efficiency + some big plays.

    Vikings 34 - Bears 17.

PS - this is my 400th post (?). Man, I need to get out more.
: Do I get a shot or something now ?
