Would you follow the team to Los Angeles?

I'm sorry if this is a sore subject right now. And let me start off by saying that I hope that the Vikings remain in Minnesota forever. But I was talking to my Dad about this tonight. He is a lifelong Vikings fan as well, despite us both living in Indiana our whole lives. Would you follow this team to Los Angeles if Wilf moved the team there? Or would you simply stop following, and / or choose another team? As an out of state Vikings fan, I would definitely follow them anywhere. But if I lived in Minnesota, I'm sure I would feel differently. What would you do?

Follow them? Nah, I have no desire to live in California. Watch them? Probably not because with our luck they would move there and win several SB' s and then the announcers would jab us at every chance about how pathetic the team was here, which is the case.

I wouldn't follow them and I'm not in Minnesota...

1. Minnesota would retain the rights to the Name, so this team would not be the LA Vikings. They would be a totally new creation. New colors, new name, new logo. When the Oilers left Houston they became the Titans. When the Browns left Cleveland they became the Colts.

2. I became a Viking Fan in the 70's... I relate to Bud Grant, playing in muck at the met, Purple People Eaters, etc. Even though my Vikes play in a dome, I still connect to the roots.

3. Don't know what I would do if they move. Maybe be an NFL fan for a while. Connect more to college football. But I would be damned if I ever root for the California Porn Stars or LA Plastic Surgeons

The Colts came from Baltimore, not Cleveland. But I see what you're saying. I know that we would lose the team name and colors. That would be awful.

And to Floyd...you may be right. Look at the Lakers. Once the Minneapolis Lakers. But I have a hard time believing that there are many loyal Lakers fans that still live in Minnesota.

My Dad also said that he would be done. Which made me pretty sad. I would hate to see that. He is the reason that I'm a die-hard Vikings fan to this day. But I'm actually thinking about moving to Southern Cali myself, and that would make it that much easier on me. But I would still hate it. It just wouldn't be the same. But I just wouldn't have the heart to cheer for any other franchise.

Minnesota would not retain the rights to the name or franchise records. That ONLY happened to the Browns because it was negotiated.

When the Oilers left Houston, they WERE the Tennessee Oilers for at least one season before rebranding as the Titans. But the franchise marks for the Titans ARE the OIlers' records.

Same for the Indianapolis Colts. Same for the St. Louis Rams.

Either way, I don't see LA keeping the Viking name, logo, or colors. The point is creating a new fan base. The Viking name was picked because many people in the area can trace their heritage back to Scandinavia. I know the Lakers were named for obvious reasons, but I don't see LA keeping the tag Vikings. Also, in the world of merchandise sales... I believe new colors and logo would be created in order to sell more.

I will probably become a Giants fan, I kind of am right now. I like a lot of their players like Hakeem Nicks outta UNC and Brandon Jacobs is a beast. I also like the way Eli is a silent leader of that team. Shows that a player can be a leader without being out spoken like Ray Lewis. Nothing against Lewis just a different approach to leadership

I'd probably be a Chargers fan then. They've been my AFC team for a long time now (Maybe I'm just a sucker for punishment)
