    Winner of the Free Agency?

According to Sports Illustrated we are the winner of the first week of the 2004 Free Agency. Do you think we are? Here's the link http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ers/index.html

I think we had a fantastic first week, resigning our best Free Agent Jim Kleinsasser, resigning also Lewis Kelly and signing our target Free Agent Antoine Winfield who was the best remaining Cornerback, after the Franchise tag was put on Chris McAlister, Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey was traded to the Broncos. We also signed Marcus Robinson, who definetly will help our Offense next year and will also reduce some pressure from Randy's shoulders! And finally we signed DT Steve Martin and (Ex-Viking) Safety Tyrone Carter, who will not only strenghten our Special Teams, but be a good backup for both of our safeties.

So now we have to sign Punter Darren Bennett and get prepared for the draft. Maybe Ian Gold is an option for OLB!

I agree, but why are we not addressing our kicking issues.

Maybe we keep Eddie Johnson, but Tice had no faith in Eiling so you think we would get someone.

I think we need a punter and a kicker either!

Tice has no faith in Elling and also in Eddie Johnson. And I think he has some good reasons for it. But Eddie Johnson is even worse than Aaron Elling. So first we need a punter and maybe later a kicker!
What do you think of trading Denard Walker or/and D'Wayne Bates against a kicker???
I think that would be nice.

Jesus Christ, Elling and Johnson were both rookies, they are not going to be perfect.

They are doing something about the kicking game, they are bringing in a specialist to work with the two youngsters. Johnson is already showing improvement with his get-off time, which was his biggest problem last season.

Sounds to me like all of you guys b**ching about the kicking game would rather have 40 year olds doing the job. Where will they be in 2 years? RETIRED. Then you have to go back to the draft or grab someone elses reject after he gets cut (in case nobody notices, all the top kickers and punters in the league don't just become available) and your in the same damn boat the Vikings are now.

You have two guys who have showed some talent, you bring in a veteren and a specialist to work with them and that is exactly what the Vikings are planning on doing.

I have no problem going with Eddie Johnson and Aaron Elling in the next season, if they prove they are good enough to be in the team. But I'm tired of losing crucial games with a fantastic team, that we will have next year because of profoundly mistakes in special temas.

I Think that we have done awesome in free agency...more so than i expected. If we could just eliminate one of our 2 defensive needs (linebacker and DE) in free agency that would be a perfect offseason for me...then we could really narrow down our draft needs and make sure we get what we need. I agree with Bulldog about our kickers...even though they really pissed me off a few times, i think they will mature this year. I cant wait until our first game!

B.S. Elling sucks he missed a 10 yrd shot. Tice has no faith in him because he
cannot do the job, We need a kicker regardless of age that can put it through
    the dam uprights-period....

Ill admit he did suck last year, but how much confidence can u have in yourself when your coach doesnt have any in you either? Im not trying to make excuses for some other the easy kicks he made, but i personally think it might be more psychological than his talent level.

Thats good to hear, but like the writer said, when we have 33.3 mil to spend, we darn well better have the #1 signing week

Well I think the Redskins have shown you can spend a lot of money and not always make the right move. Think of which teams have spent the most on FA the last 3yrs and the Redskins are the first to come to mind. Where has it gotten that spoiled little brat? We made some big signings, all of which should pay off.
