Re: Winfield's Absence Opens Door For cCauley

On a lighter note, I thought this gem was pretty special:

"It seemed like every day last year, we had to re-explain or the coaches would have to go over the philosophy of a play or a scheme. This year it seems to be understood. That's the big thing: Everybody's on the same page. I could say it 55 different ways, but everybody's on the same page this year as far as goals, commitment, scheme, technique. That's the key."
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

winfield is a beast and the suriest tackler and best run support corner in the league. a short time ago he was a fan favorite but now all of a sudden every1 has turned there back on him. give the guy a while to get his money and get in camp. then you can judge him as you seefit.

    Best in the league? No.
    Best on out team? Yes.

And this isn't about the money.
If it was I would be fine with it.
But he has said several times that it isn't about his contract.

Heres what I posted in another thread.

    Ranking against all NFL LB/DB
    27 Solo Tackles
    18 (Tied) Int

    Vikes
    2nd Tackles
    2nd Solo
    1rst Pass Defended
    1rst (Tied Int)
    3rd Tackles for loss
    etc etc etc.

    Pretty respectable stats.

You know, I love Winfield on our D. I hope he eventually buys into our scheme and comes back with a better attitude; however, if he doesn't, I think our D will do fine without him. I wonder what we could get in trade for him? He's one of the few guys on our team that I think has trade value. I'd rather keep him, but....
The way trades have gone down, we might get a 5th round draft pick for him.
    LOL!

Players seem to have less and less value these days.

Winfield has a few more years in him and him not being here is not really a problem unless he tries to skip camp.
It is nice that McCauley is getting reps in his absence, these are reps that he wouldn't be getting otherwise.

If McCauley had to replace Winfield it would be a liability on D = rookie.

Winfield would probably bring a second or third rounder, or a late second day pick and another player (WR?).
But I hope it doesn't come to that.
Winfield still has a lot he con contribute to this team.

    Who's a better run-stopping corner than Antoine?
    Give me names.

    Wait.
You'd rather he be bitching about his money than desperately wanting the team to get better players so they can win?

You'd be happier if he's a selfish money-loving prick than if he's a team guy who desperately wants to win?

    Jesus Christ, NP, that's insane.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
