I like it as well.. since you know the Packers know Winfield very well.

In 10 years of play he has a career 20 interceptions (15 in 5 years with the Vikes).. pretty hefty contract for that type of production.. please don't take that as I think he isn't a good player. He is more physical than most corners in the game.. just when you are paying elite money.. you have to expect some game changing plays more regularly than twice a season on average.

But one cannot argue his importance as a run defender... guy isn't afraid to stick his nose in the fray.. maybe I am under valuing him too greatly.

Cover 2 isn't designed to get a lot of picks.
It's designed to avoid the big play and force 4th downs.

    Winfield is perfect in that.
You might make the catch, but you aren't getting the YAC.

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

I would like more picks as well

But with our cover 2 there isn't alot of opportunity

This deal is also a case study in remaining patient during the ebbs and flows of negotiations. Moral of the story: Whenever you hear that talks have "broken off," consider it temporary unless someone says otherwise.

This is a HUGE WIN for this team.

Maybe a certain other veteran waffler could learn from Winfields handling of this situation.

Let's not get carried away on how great Winfield handled the situation.
I am glad he signed but I think he stirred the pot a little more than necessary.
Big win for the team but Winfield wasn't always an angel during the process.
