"The only thing missing is an interception," Someone missed the colts game...
I'm happy he's having a big year, hopefully he will finally make the pro bowl

He has made some "high-profile" plays this year. And he has widely been regarded as a regular Pro Bowl snub. I would have to say right now he is definitely on pace to get a Pro Bowl appearance, and if the vote was held today, would quite probably be All-Pro.

Re: Winfield having big year for Vikings
What amazes me about Winfield is how alot of people are just finding out he's a great football player, especailly the announcers. I think it started back last year on a NFL Network game where Cris Collinsworth did a Madden-Favre Like Man Love. Since then I've heard numerous annoucers give him the props he has always diserved.
I also like to get into with Fans who say he's below average in pass coverage which I find hilarious but completely false. I beleive Winfield is bar none the best Tackling CB in the NFL and when you couple that with solid coverage skills throughout an entire carear my vote is in for him to be in the Hall Of Fame and at age 31 he's still the beast he always has been and a great community guy/character. He will probably never make that list because he always has been and always will be underated.
Now there could be some biasm on my part, particularly because I grew up the small framed kid but like Winfield I surprised others with my competitive nature and passion for football. Although I can easily say that Winfield is bar none my favorite Viking player which includes a long list of guys like Carter, Moss, and John Randle, Winfield is a Freak in his own right, he does things nobody can or ever has done.

Although he is probably the most underrated player in the whole league there is no way he gets into the hall of fame
Numbers are not quite there.. And no ring
He is a great player.. And I think this cover two is holding his covering down a bit.. But not on the hall of fame level..
Just look at some of the players on there.. He is good but not on that level
He is a great guy too.. I always backed him when people on here didn't like his coverage skills.. ANd he is the nicest Viking IMO.. Only one i've seen sign over 5 autographs EVERYTIME after the games

Re: Winfield having big year for Vikings
Oh I know people won't agree with that, its JMO. I don't look so much at numbers as I do the individuals play on field, the little things, I get to watch lots of football and quite frankly there is nobody in the league that does it like my boy Winfield.
As far as the Ring is concerned thats hog wash, its much like Winfield being snubbed from the Pro Bowl because his "teams" havn't been winning teams. Its quite sad IMO and why the whole system is shot.
I will forever remember Winfield as one of the best CB to ever play the game of football, I did not see his college material but I would like too, although I do know he was the Thorpe winner earned by the best CB in all of college football that particular year.

Re: Winfield having big year for Vikings
Yah my boy Winfield doesn't get alot of recognition
But honestly he is not on the level of Deion Sanders or Darrell Green or Champ Bailey
Although I don't agree with people getting in due to numbers and rings.. But that's the way it is
People don't just look at the intangables
I say Winny is like Hines Ward.. Good at everything but not great any everything.. Except Winny tackles like a linebacker
If Winfield plays a few more years and gets 11 more picks or so.. Putting him at 30.. He COULD have a shot..
Otherwise no.. They will look and say well he has under 20 picks and 3 sacks and no rings
Nothing special there.. Although we know Winny is a special player

Re: Winfield having big year for Vikings
And im very upset because Winny was signing autographs and I brought a little helmet to get signed after the agame
He asked if anyone else needed one and I didn't run up and get one
I was waiting for my favorite player Sidney Rice.. ANd he ended up being the only other player to sign autographs.. Actually Bobby Wade did too.. But Sidney only signed like 3 then left
I was madddddddddddddddd

Re: Winfield having big year for Vikings
You make some solid points but I'll go out on a limb here and say he's "great" at tackling and hitting, possibly and most likely the best to ever hit this stage(NFL) at CB. There are alot of guys I have not seen but I definilty havn't heard of them either. I just havn't seen anyone do it like him and I know for sure Dieon is as soft as a bag of feathers but is a gifted athlete who was a pure cover corner. Winfield overall game trumps his IMO because he is a such a well rounded football player, and what I respect most is his toughness especailly considering his size in stature. That toughness, will, and want to play like a LB at CB at his size is remarkable IMO. Winfield for Hall Of Fame, thats how I will rember him, the best part is, its not yet over but how many more years will he want to play...
