Winfield has a change of heart.

    Winfield back on board

Whatever rift existed between cornerback Antoine Winfield and the Vikings apparently has been mended.

Didn't see this posted, if it is, my apologies.

Good post! Interesting article. Childress must have convenienced him that the offense was going to be better than Winfield thought.

Nope, it wasn't posted. I was just about to when I saw yours pop up in the latest talk.

"We're all kind of mother hens as coaches," he said. "You'd like to have everybody around you all the time, but that's just not the NFL these days, particularly if someone has personal issues he's working through."

So, is Childress trying to say (as some of us have), that perhaps Winfield missed OTA's for a reason that may have been unrelated to his opinion of the team, and that the media was perhaps pulling shit out of their ass?

A personal issue with the team.

AW's agent pretty much said that he and Chilly have a better understanding now.
Which means there wasn't one before.

I am glad he changed his mind and will help our team win the superbowl before he gets too old and slow

Still don't think it was any non-football issue.
His agent pretty much said that there was an issue between Winfield and Childress and/or the team.
I think the media was right on.

Winfield wasn't immediately available for comment, but agent Ashanti Webb said the ninth-year veteran and Childress were able to open up the lines of communication during a series of conversations they had over the last 3-4 weeks.

"The real positive of this has been the relationship he and Brad have been able to solidify," Webb said. "Sometimes it takes something like this to get everybody on the same page."

...The Vikings went 6-10 during a difficult first year with Childress in charge, and the defense grew especially frustrated with the lack of production by a struggling offense. Winfield was one of the public critics of what he called predictable play calling.

Even at minicamp, he indicated he wasn't happy with the talent level on offense -- and that the front office didn't do much through free agency to supplement it.
