Will we score more than 20 points this weekend?

Blackjack ... or better

The Vikings haven't scored 20 points or more in a game this season, but history is in their favor this weekend against the Lions. The Vikings have beaten the Lions in 14 of their past 16 meetings, scoring more than 20 each time:

2005: Vikings win 27-14 and 21-16

2004: Vikings win 22-19 and 28-27

2003: Vikings win 23-13 and 24-14

2002: Vikings win 31-24 and 38-36

2001: Vikings win 31-26, lose 27-24

2000: Vikings win 31-24 and 24-17

1999: Vikings lose 25-23, win 24-17

1998: Vikings win 29-6 and 34-13

we should....against the lions D, it shouldn't be that hard, if we don't then we are going to need to make some serious moves on offense.

Thanks Josdin00 for the sig!

I doubt that we will score that many.
It means scoring more than one touchdown.
That's asking a lot of this offense.

I sure hope so. But we cant seem to score unless its the opening drive.
I suppose we could hit 7 field goals.

Re: Will we score more than 20 points this weekend?

You know, I was watching the NFLN and saw DC on there.
He was defending himself again, this time in Mia, for a lack of Offense.
The guys (Rod, Adam and Rich) are starting to get on him for holding the ball too long.
This time he has the excuse of no being able to be mobile, same talk different city.

Then Baldinger did a little segment on TO, and his abilities (plural) to get open.
It was pretty impressive.
I am not going to go into a TO love fest or anything, but these were some thing that were pointed out.
He keeps his feet under him at all times (as we all do) which helps him with Efficient Route and YAC.
He Blocks well.
He starts all of his routes the same way.
He runs route, finds ball, then time run to the ball so the defender can't make a play at the ball.
I am sure you can find a clip of this for every WR that has been in the league as long as he has.
But it was still an impressive set of Video.

Well you are probably thinking, "why are you talking about TO in this thread?"
And that is a fair question.

It is because, I look at our WRs and I am thinking that MRob, TT, and TWill are not TO.
I think they are one dimensional in their own ways.
TT and TWill are quick, but I think the lack the techniques and moves. MRob has one move that works, and that is the Jump Ball.
If you look at guys like Holt, TO, R.Moss, Harrison and Rice (HOF bound), they are all guys that are sizing the DB up and then setting him up.
Even S Moss, in his interview talked about how he came back to attack the game winning catch instead of letting his path lead him into a sure leveling by the Jags FS.
TT and MRob have been in the league long enough to be in that mind set but I just don't see it.
I think all of our WRs are just trying there hardest to catch the ball.
With this being said, I don't think that BJ is confident in any of them to be trusting them to be where they are suppose to be.
He isn't throwing it unless they are open beyond a reasonable doubt or he can put the ball up over top where the D doesn't have a chance.

Now with all that said, I will get back to points.
IF, and I said IF, we are going to score more than 20 points, we are going to have to get some super sloppy play by the DBs of the Lions.
OR, and I did say OR, we will have to get them on the ground with CT breaking of a long one.
BJ and BC are going to take what the Lions D gives us (that is what we know so far).
Another OR is the possibility that we take the reigns off and go BTTW.
I would be really surprised if we tried to light it up and go Balls To The Walls in this game.

Vikings 19 Lions 12 (let's limit the Martz freak show to FGs)

Gameball to Longwell (LOL)

I am hoping that BC has been planning on opening up a can of WhoopAss in the bye week to surprise the Seachickens and get us a road victory in a place that the home team has won the last 13 or so games in a row.
It would nice to see if the car will travel b4 taking off on that long journey by testing our O this week.

Longwell has been out of practice this week because of strep-throat so I hope that he is semi recovered by Sunday or Monday
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Who are we going to give the game ball to?

Is he going to be out there with a surgical mask on under his facemask.
We don't need any other players getting sick.
Seriously, he is a kicker, he can play with strep, just don't pass that crap to others.

Thanks for the info whack!

Twenty Points can be done, but we have to force turnovers. Last face it last year when Brad had his best games he had a short field. Nearly all his td passes came when we gave him the ball on the opponents side of the 50. Personnally though this offense needs a change. And although it may not be brad johnson's fault on the offenses perfomances, its alot easier to change one player than those around him which is why if our offense continues to play bad, its time to give brooks bollinger a shot. He should know Childress's offense well enough after playing for him in collegeand now the pros.

Will we score more than 20 points this weekend?

Yes. I think we will score over 20 points Sunday. Not only are the fans getting restless for more offensive production, but I think Childress, BJ and the entire offensive team are also. We've gone up against some pretty stiff defensive minded teams the last four games. I think we are going to see better production this week and have a decisive win under our belts for the bye.
Even babies know the difference.
