I still think Sage is a better choice than Tarvaris.
But it became a moot point once Favre was signed.

Especially after Sage's brilliant QB bootleg.

As one of the people advocating for Sage before Favre came along I still stand by my thoughts.
TJ definitely won the back up battle but it doesn't mean he would have won the starting position if Favre never came along.
They would have both had more time instead of the lack of time they both had to win the job.
TJ deservedly won the backup spot with the time they were able to play.
But again you cannot make a good assessment on 4 quarters of non-continuous play.
Sage only had one bad pass and one bad bootleg.
TJ had a bad game in the first preseason game.
In fact that is the main reason Childress recalled Favre.
I am still not sure why the TJ supporters thinks that was such a great victory but it seems that is all you have to hold onto.
;D
That being said, the last game TJ had in preseason and the passes he made the other day make me believe that TJ maybe finally getting it.
That makes me pretty happy because if that is the case I would feel more confident if TJ had to come in and play at anytime during the season.
It also tells me the Vikings have a pretty darn good QB situation right now.
Sage or TJ can back up on most teams and may even start on a few of them.
Having someone like Sage as 3rd string isn't a bad thing.
