Re: Will the Vikings draft a QB?
We haven't drafted a QB since Culpepper in 99 so I would think its about time. With Culpepper hurt and Hill about running out of time on his development I think its time to draft a QB on the second day this year. In the past we havent had much depth and had pressing needs elsewhere on the roster but now i beleive we have the luxury to draft a developmental QB in the later rounds.
Anybody really like some 2nd day prospects. Most sites have Cutler rated as a 2nd so I am sure he will be gone. When i watched Iowa lose to Northwestern I was pretty impressed with their QB Brett Basanez sp?
I also liked Fresno State's Paul Pinegar when I watched him play vs. USC

Re: Will the Vikings draft a QB?
a later round qb is usually a good choice. hill sucks, so a rookie in his spot wont be so bad. i just hope we dont go out of our way to get one because daunte is the man here and for a long time will be
We're bringing purple back.

Re: Will the Vikings draft a QB?
NO...we need to draft more defense and a stud RB...the rest of the holes we can fill via FA.
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

Re: Will the Vikings draft a QB?
I'de agree with Cajun,
We can easily pick up a quality QB via FA if need be...
But I see Brad staying next season, and being the starter for us in the begining of the season, with D PeP working his way back into starter.....
We should really keep our eyes on the RB's - O-lineman - and Quality D players at all positions.....

Gotta go with Cajun and Ned.
I do not think we need to get a QB with an early pick.

Re: Will the Vikings draft a QB?
I think we'll go either LB or OL early on, followed by a DB, then maybe in the 4th round or so get a QB.

Re: Will the Vikings draft a QB?
We DO NOT need to take a QB with an early round pick. If he's still there when we pick in the first round we should take A.J. Hawk to fill out our LB corp, or maybe Carpenter from OSU. After that we need to look at OL's. What good would it be for us to get a QB if we don't have an O line to block for him?
As for QB, that can be addressed in the mid to late rounds, if at all. We still have to consider CPep first. Keep in mind that yes, there are several decent QB's coming out this year, but for everyone of them that gets drafted, there will be an experienced QB made available for trade or FA.
Most likely the Vikes are going to try to bring Brad back for next year to start until Daunte is back, and then resume his role as backup once Daunte gets back into the line up. They might pick up a servicable 3rd stringer off waivers or an undrafted FA if they decide that JT Sullivan doesn't fill their needs.
IMHO, I think it won't be till after next season that they will know if they need to take a hard look at drafting another QB.I used to be indecisive, now I m not so sure!

I do not think we need to get a QB with an early pick.
JT was picked up just as added insurance for depth.
Shaun Hill has not had enough playing time with the 1st string offense to be able to make a judgement call that he can or cannot be a starter.
Look for MN to draft LB's, O-linemen & a smashmouth RB early (pending Onterrios status) & maybe a D-lineman as well. A QB may come in a later round or free agency.
I don't expect JT to be on the roster next year.

Hi.. yeah he was awesome, but had many problems with his knees i think, so he was one of the few Heisman winners that wasnt drafted.. He's now stopped his football career.. soo he's not availbleGo for a QB in the later rounds as a 3rd stringer who can develop into a reliable backup like Frerotte and Johnson. No need for one in the first 3 rounds though.
How about that guy who won the Heisman at Oklahoma Jason White? I mean, he did win the Heisman... Where is he now btw? FA?
