Will megamall deal usher in a stadium deal for Vikings?

Will megamall deal usher in one for Vikings?

The Mall of America’s plan to help finance its second phase could face an important legislative hearing today — and among the interested observers will be the Minnesota Vikings, who see in the proposal a possible method to build a new football stadium.

Fucking critics!

Critics are rallying opposition to the plan in part by arguing that the Vikings would likely want to use the same mechanism to help build a $954 million stadium.

There may be a good solution in there. If they had a metro wide 10% tax on all sales and payrolls they could fund the stadiums, Mega Malls and even a bigger airport. I am pretty sure the residents wouldn't mind.

Just reading some of the comments on that page, there seem to be a majority f people who don't want the stadium (and obviously think Zygi could pay for it himself, which is ridiculous). I understand the recession and gas concerns, but come on. I have this sinking feeling that people in MN like quietude and nothingness, so a football stadium is out of the question. I am starting to feel like they'll end up moving.

Well hell, I've been advocating a metro wide tax for a couple of years now...

I wouldn't be too worried.
The people commenting on a news article web page are not a very good sample of the population.
In fact, the only people who comment tend to be the minority who feel strongly one way or another.

if its anything like our government here in canada, they'll impose a temporary tax to pay for something, and it won't go away.

I hope your right, b/c if the Vikings ship out, and i'd have no more team to root for, that would mean the offseason doesn't matter anymore and that means I'd get my life back. I don't know what to do with my life... Things are much simpler if i have the small goal/satisfaction of checking the Jared Allen thread every 10 min.

thats what they did for the metrodome
;D imposed a "temporary tax" to pay for it, which is still in affect to this day.

Same thing happened here in mankato when they imposed a "temporary tax" to pay for the new Civic Center - which is still in affect.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, the government will always have another reason to take your money.
It don't matter if it's for a stadium or something else.
It's sooo stupid but very true.
