Will Jon Gruden be our next head coach?
I figured Jon Gruden would worship Farve on Monday night, but man he was praising the vikings players at every opportunity.
He seems to believe we have all the pieces in place to become a championship team.
Is he positioning himeself to become the next Vikings head coach if childress fails this year?
Re: Will Jon Gruden be our next head coach?
No.
He is being a commentator.
Re: Will Jon Gruden be our next head coach?
My two choices would be
1.
The chin - Bill Cower
OR
2.
Mike Shanahan
in that order!

Since Childress is going to lead them to the Super Bowl Championship this year, it's a moot point.

as much as i would love our first SB, it would be great if chilly lead us to it. but if he doesnt and if for some reason we dont even make the playoffs, id luv to get cowher, shanny or gruden. all 3 have a ring, and all 3 are capable of taking us to the promise land
Re: Will Jon Gruden be our next head coach?
I see where you're coming from. As an offensive guru he was sporting a rod when our offense was on the field. Not to mention the guy loves PH and Brett Favre. Hell, he even ran the cover 2 in TB.
I just don't think the team will be bad enough to get Chilly fired. I see us making the playoffs easily, and once we get passed the first round Chillies job will already be safe.
Re: Will Jon Gruden be our next head coach?
Take of your homer hats and answer the question honestly. Do you really think we a re lock in for the playoffs?

There are no locks in the NFL.
The Patriots were a stone-cold lock for about 12 minutes last year.

The good thing about this Favre situation, we know the owners will do what they think is best for the team.
Even bold action is not out of the question.

If we don't make the playoffs, this will be a huge blunder.
We have one of the most talented teams in the league.
Proclaimed by the media at every turn:
Best RB
Top 5 D
Possibly the best O-line (at least run)
Possibly the best D-line
Heck it was stated before Favre that all we needed was a small upgrade and we were a lock.
Now we got the small upgrade and we are competing with the Packers for the NFCN.
Back to the original topic, about Gruden, he will not be our coach......... Doesn't make sense.
I think he got lucky in Oak and he inherited Dungy's team in TB.
Where did TB go after that SB.
Some of that might have been front office decisions but I don't see him as a great coach.
Re: Will Jon Gruden be our next head coach?
I want C Mac to be the next coach. :)
Then we will find out for sure if he really knows more about football than Childress...
Just kidding C Mac.
(But you have to admit, that would be a fun train wreck to watch...)
