Certainly deserves to be in there, shocked that is wants in on his first try with the career he had..

I still can't fathom how two receivers not named Jerry Rice have made it in since Carter has been eligible.
Agreed. His whole career it seemed like he was the 2nd best WR behind Rice.Quote:

Truth is it's about politics. Carter pissed off members of the media years ago and they won't let it go.
The fact Michael Irvin got in on the first attempt with 65 career TDs and Carter doesn't with 130 speaks volumes.
I spelled that wrong.. i was trying to write.. shocked that he wasnt in on hys first try.. sorry if anyone was offended.. Cris Carter was amazingQuote:

Only 5 modern-era players can be elected in any given year.Quote:

So, that leaves 3 spots open. My guess is those three will be: Shannon Sharpe, Dermontti Dawson and Carter. Ed Sabol SHOULD make it, as NFL Films has had as much impact on the game becoming the number one sport in the USA as any individual player or executive, but I doubt he will.
Dent and Doleman are also worthy candidates, as is, perhaps, Andre Reed.
And I don't think either of the veteran's committee guys will make it. C'mon - Chris Hanburger??
