Vikings remain hopeful rehabbing Peterson will be ready for season opener - Dallas News | myFOXdfw.comThe reality of knee injuries like the one Peterson suffered is that a player is not truly back to 100 percent until he is almost two years removed from surgery.

My mind immediately goes to Boobie Miles on Friday Night lights...(movie).
Just don't push it back too soon.

I am glad we have Toby to carry the rock until Adrian gets to 110 percent. I hope the staff don't allow Adrian to rush back to fast and hurt himself further.

I keep hearing that the injury is an ACL tear. But it also is a MCL tear. When the MCL tears it also tears the medial meniscus because the two are connected.
This injury is called the terrible triad because it used to be a career ending injury.
Even now it is noted as an injury that takes two years for a full recovery.
Adrian may come back and play in 9 months, but it's unlikely he will be the same until the season after this one.
The Vikings aren't going to the superbowl with or without Adrian playing a full season.
As much as I would love to see AD back on the field I pray they don't risk his career by rushing him back too soon.
I have a feeling AD would play today if they would let him!

I think the question is really: "What level of performance can we expect out of AD this year?" rather than "Will he start Week 1?". He may start week 1, but what will he really be able to do? Then again, 75% of AD is better than 100% of a lot of running backs.

In today's league, running back isn't as important as the pass offense. So while we like this and his recovery I dont think he's the key to the superbowl. Be nice to have him back again.
Isn't he getting near the productivity peak of the normal running back in relation to years in the league too?
