Re: Will The 98 Vikes All Time Points Record Be Broken This Season?

I do not think it will happen this year.
I think things will slow down a bit for the Pats.

I do think that our record will be eventually broken though...hopefully by us.

with the way they are going it is certainly possible, but remember, once they start playing better defenses, they should fall off the pace... so far the only 'D' they played was against Dallas, and they allowed 30+ points to the Giants

Already went on record . . . and not changing my mind:

Boy . . . there are still those that jump down the throat of a MOSS fan . . . that wants him back.

Well, at least MOSS will finally get his ring, and he's shown he still has something left in the tank.
I don't think he's the same stud receiver we had . . . but is still extremely dangerous.

The Patriots may take our points record away . . . and possibly even the 72 Dolphin undefeated mark.

While I am still a fan of him (I even drafted him for my ESPN FF league despite laughter from others - they'll ain't laughing anymore) . . . I'm not sure if he'd last in the mess we call an offense right now.
He'd probably be more of the Oakland MOSS here . . . but I guess we'll never know.

He's also helping put the cheating scandal to bed for the Pat's as well.
The Pat's are looking like the smartest team in the NFL right now.
However, I gotta laugh thinking Brett FARVE is going "see see . . . I told you we should've gotten him", but GB is undefeated, so that eases that sting.

Pretty damn premature to start saying that.
And if they do, it isn't solely because of Moss.

I am glad he is going good, I just never harbored any misconceptions about him coming to Minnesota under this regime.
He chose to go to NE for one reason and one reason only.
    He wants his ring.
    Minnesota was never an option.
    Oh I agree.
Our 1998 team wasn't all MOSS.
The PATS already have a legacy.
He's just the spark right now that could take them to an entirely new level (just as he did for us in 1998), and in the process, get him a ring that he should've had already.

I just find it interesting that there are those that like to tear down ex-vikings.
As soon as they walk out the door (or get booted) suddenly it's the "cool" thing to tear them apart as being washed up and no good.
I know I've been guilty of that (especially with DC) to a certain degree as well.

MOSS was a huge part of our history, as everyone can tell by the number of treads and posts about him.
But we've finally seen the answer to the question of whether he was washed up.

MOSS won't go away until one of our WR's makes us forget he was ever here.
    Nobody has done that yet.

Those that "frequent the boards" are just tired of hearing about it.

With cold/bad weather soon to come along, and a lot of games outdoors, I say definitly not. They ARE putting up major points on the really "tough" teams in thier division and the Browns, but the Pats will slow down.

Also the O has a real advantage at the start, won't be long til someone figures out how to play them, to keep them at least under 30, lol.

you know what pisses me off about new england is that they will be up by 28 with 2min left in the 4th quarter and go for it on 4 down... i would be so pissed if i was the other team

It is now looking pretty much inevitable that the Pats will take our record, they only need to average 23 points per game for their last 5 match-ups to do it. The Cowboys aren't a million miles away from breaking the current mark either, I guess records are always going to be broken, once we win the SB they will never take that away from us. ;D

The 98 Vikings: 34.74 points average per game

    2007 Patriots 40.18 average through 11 games
    2007 Cowboys 32.91 average through 12 games

I wouldn't, you're actually given a chance to stop their offense.
Which teams can't seem to do.

Re: Will The 98 Vikes All Time Points Record Be Broken This Season?

Top 5 offenses in the NFL right now by total points scored:

    New England: 442
    Dallas: 395
    Green Bay: 323
    Cleveland: 315
    Indianapolis: 309

Averages for the remainder of the season to break the 556 record:

    New England: 22.8 ppg
    Dallas: 40.25 ppg
    Green Bay: 58.25 ppg
    Cleveland: 48.2 ppg
    Indianapolis: 49.4 ppg

As much as I'd like my team to score 58 points a game, there's just no way it's going to happen. I don't see an average of at least 40 out of Dallas, Cleveland, or Indianapolis.

New England's is very VERY possible. So I voted for New England.

    Judging by their schedule...

    @ Baltimore
    Pittsburgh
    New York Jets
    Miami
    @ New York Giants

...I do believe they'll beat it. They're on pace to score 663 points this season, beating the record by 107 points.

I doubt they'll beat it that bad, but that's the projections.
