Wilf's bringing new hope to Vikings rubes

While the race for the Super Bowl continues, the Minnesota Vikings have already begun looking forward to the 2006 season.
Red McCombs is long gone, Mike Tice was shown the door, and, for the first time in a long while, the organization appears ready to clean house and make a serious run at a Super Bowl title.
You have to be impressed with how owner Zygi Wilf has handled the off-season to this point and his comment that "money will not be an issue in bringing this franchise a Super Bowl." It intrigued me after dealing with that cheapskate Mc-Combs for seven years.
Some Tice apologists will tell you that firing the guy an hour after beating the Chicago Bears in the final week of the season was too harsh and/or "classless".
Fine, whatever, but let's be honest, Tice is a big boy and will get over it.
The bottom line is a change needed to take place.
Whether new Head Coach Brad Childress leads us to the promised land or not, you have to like that the guy comes from a winning organization in Philadelphia and is well-respected in NFL circles.
My hope in the off-season is the Vikings continue to stockpile on defense and address the offensive line issues.
If you look at the remaining teams left in the NFL playoffs (and even the ones who lost in the first couple rounds) they all have one thing in common - they play solid defense.
Either way, it should be yet another interesting off-season and draft for the Vikings this spring.

Vikings | Wilf against stadium referendum
Wed, 18 Jan 2006 20:15:31 -0800
Mike Kaszuba, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf spoke against a stadium referendum, saying it was "rather foolish" to ask voters to approve a project the county's elected officials had already endorsed. Wilf recently outlined a media campaign to counter critics who want a referendum on Anoka County's plan to contribute $280 million toward the stadium through and three-quarters of 1 percent countywide sales tax. Wilf's comments come after four small cities in Anoka County passed resolutions asking for a referendum on the countywide sales tax.

I do not know who this guy is or where the redwood gazette (figuring redwood), but I like the way the guy lays it on the line and tells it like it is! There is a lot of journalists at the Red Star/Trib and the Pioneer press that could take some tips from this guy!! Good post singersp! What we've got here is failure to communicate.
