That was the best option, but the state balked, and now the deal is over with.
It never had the full support of the legislature anyway, because the most powerful group (Hennepin County) was dead set against it.

Zygi has committed to building downtown.
He has already spent quite a bit of money, and has flash the desire to spend quite a bit more.
The stadium will go down town, so the question isn't where, but when.

I wish people would remember the Lakers going to LA and the North Stars moving to Dallas and how close MLB come to folding the Twins.
If the Vikes left Minnesota the NFL wouldn't be looking at planting another franchise in Minnesota for decades. Wouldn't it be nice if the media started to tell the stories of what was lost in the past instead of focusing on negatives and helping to bang nails in a coffin.

I agree with that. Our media has destoryed the Vikes. If I remember well they where talking major stadium before Moss was gone.
Also, fact is...the North Stars left us because of things like this and so did the Lakers. Anyone remember the "Hartford Whalers" -aka Carolina Hurricanes-dajavu all over again with Vikes

    Dear Mr. Wilf,

    I was just asking myself.

Where do people in the cities like to go every summer?

    A: The Brainerd Lakes Area.

What is one of the biggest roadblocks to a new stadium?
    A:
Land is too expensive in The Cities.

What is the biggest financial burden on the Nisswa/Lakeshore area in the fall/winter?
    A:
Dropoff in tourism to due complete lack of anything to do unless it snows.

    By jove I've got it.
Welcome to the new home of the MN Vikings!

That's right good old Nisswa, MN.
We can put the new stadium in the woods behind the baseball field.
That provides easy tailgate access at The Pickle Factory.
    See you there in 2010.

    LOL
A great reply lakehubertviking. And being that I used to have a lake cabin home near there (between Backus and Longville) I know the area of which you speak with much fondness.

By playing footsie with downtown interests and jilting Anoka County, Zygi Wilf finds himself with no stadium deal.

Steve Novak was Anoka County's lead negotiator in the deal that would have brought the Vikings to Blaine in a retractable roof stadium....
this really sucks, some times people just have to bite their tounge

I live 10 miles east of Brainerd, and I would love it if they at least had training camp here! I was crossing my fingers a couple years ago when they were thinking about moving it from Mankato.

At least we get Arcitc Blast.
