Sweet!! Finally an owner that looks out for the fan...sort of.
Actually, it's simple supply and demand.

Demand goes down, so do the prices.

Thats very nice of them but I am sure it wouldn't be like this if we were 12-4.

You have to get somebody in the stadium.
    That's exactly what I meant.
Like PPE above said, it's supply and demand.
If the Vikes had gone 12-4, I would have expected ticket prices to go up again.
But the team stunk, and looks like they might stink for the next year or two as well.
Even when Green/Tice was putting up 5-11, 6-10 seasons, Red increased the ticket prices.
Last season, the Vikings home sellout streak nearly ended on several occasions.
For the finale against the Rams, they had to give away $25 gift certificates to the Vikings Locker Room store in the MOA with a ticket purchase in order to get the game to sell out.
And there aren't all that many tickets available to the general public after season seats are sold...generally only about 4000 per game.
With the team's poor performance last year, you might have had a bunch of season ticket holders not renewing their seats, especially if you increase the prices after a 6-10 season where you went 2-8 down the stretch.

The folks with the primo seat locations will probably face a ticket price increase and pay it, because the demand for the choice seat locations is high and hard to get back into if you ever leave.
But for the rest of us, this was a good gesture by a owner that understands his product leaves something to be desired.
It's a good move to keep the season ticket base strong.

    Vikings | Ticket prices announced
    Fri, 9 Feb 2007 09:54:59 -0800

Judd Zulgad, of the Minnesota Star-Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings announced that two-thirds of all season-ticket locations will remain the same price or be reduced for 2007. The remaining one-third of the seat locations in the Metrodome will go up by 1.8 percent to 4.5 percent. This will mark the first time since 1998 that there will not be a general price increase for all seats.

    Season ticket prices announced
    Friday, February 9th, 2007
    by Judd Zulgad

Coming off a 6-10 finish in Brad Childress’ first year as head coach, the Vikings announced today that two-thirds of all season-ticket locations will have the same or lower price next season. That doesn’t mean there won’t be increases. The remaining one-third of the seat locations in the Metrodome will go up by 1.8 percent to 4.5 percent. Check out the seating chart.

According to a press release issued by the Vikings, this is the first time since 1998 there will not be a general price increase for all seats. That, of course, was Randy Moss’ rookie year and marked the start of a sellout streak that has reached 94 games but could be in jeopardy of ending if the Vikings struggle in 2007. Failure to sell out a home game means it is not shown locally on television.

The Vikings will pay tribute to their first season in Minnesota (1961) by pricing more than 4,000 upper level season tickets at $19.61 per game. Overall, the team will have 11 pricing options for season tickets after having eight last year. Remember this includes 10 games because season-ticket holders get stuck with the two preseason games.

The top price will be $1,160 and the lowest will be $99 but are advertised as having a “limited view.”
    Here is the remainder of the prices: $1,130; $990; $960; $730; $710; $670; $490; $380; and $196.10.

The highest price last season was $1,110, meaning the top ticket has gone up $50. The lowest available season-ticket price on the seating chart last year was $320.

The Vikings home schedule next season will include Philadelphia, Washington, Oakland, San Diego, Atlanta, plus Chicago, Detroit and Green Bay of the NFC North. The two preseason opponents have yet to be announced.

The new seating chart is available on vikings.com

They actually added a helluva lot of price levels in there.
I like it because it doesn't make the jump from one price range to the next as steep, even though you are more likely to increase cost when upgrading now.
