At least it's talking about them buying parking lots instead of selling some to get the team out of town.

I struggle to find sympathy for billionaires who plead poverty when it comes to stadium construction for their teams. Zygi could get it done tomorrow if he wanted to - but God-forbid a stadium gets built without public money these days.

    Sorry, cynical mood.

(And yes, I understand the transport links are the concern of the state - but that isn't what's holding up construction).

    what's taking so long
    :
if they take any longer the cost of building it would double.
the stadium need's to get sorted now, so what is it that is holding up constuction?.. because as i've said the longer they take the more it's going to cost no matter where the stadium is built.

its a bit more complicated than that.
they need approval to build a stadium in the downtown area, believe it or not, forking up $1.5 billion is a big chunk of change for Wilf.
they need better roadways and access to the stadium (state money).

i just dont get how they wouldnt do this.. i mean local bars will have more business, hotels, restaurants, this would help out the city a lot if they would come to an agreement.
I can honestly only see it happening when we have a winning season and get into the playoffs again

    Thanks josdin00

that's probebly what's holding it all up you could put money on it, if the vikings have a great season they will get all the help they need from all the govenment officials they need.

No doubt Zygi and investors intend to make money off a stadium being built. I don't have a problem with that. They are investing a lot of capital.

But I think the public in general is reluctant to subsudize Zygi's plans.

This kind of thing happens all the time.

Business helps the economy and contributes to the tax base. Government helps the business continue or expand.

The problem is, this is high profile!

A lot of these deals get done with far less attention and scrutiny.

I don't buy the arguement that a new stadium will bring many superbowls. Minnesota in winter is a hard sell. It may happen once if we get a new stadium. But final four and other big events are possible.

The problem is competition from other new stadiums being built.

All in all, this deal in one form or another will benefit the twin cities and state if done right.

Partial general tax and partial user tax is something that is regretable but probablt necessary to get it done.
What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

    Yup.
That is what I have been saying all off season.
