MANKATO, Minn. — Vikings owner Zygi Wilf took the team's new stadium pitch to the Minnesota State Building and Construction Trades Council's annual convention Thursday, and said he's confident the state legislature will approve the plan next year.
    Sure.
    He's been "confident" before.
    We'll see.
    When?
    Please provide links with quotes.
There were links with both my articles!
    Yes.
And I want SoCal Vike to provide links with quotes which justify his sarcastic and pessimistic response to a proposal which hasn't even been unveiled yet.
    It's called humor big "Z."
Dry humor, I'll give you that but humor nevertheless.
    It
was a play on the word confident since Wilf is always upbeat when discussing any stadium plans.
As for my "sarcastic and pessimistic" response, all I said was we'll see.

In reiterating the need to act quickly on his stadium proposal, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf noted Thursday for the first time that Minnesota lost the NHL's North Stars because it didn't move quickly enough....

It's about time! I've been saying this for a long time. Once the Stars were gone, they realized how much revenue the lost & built a very nice arena & brought a new franchise in.

All for a hell of a lot more ching than what they would have spent keeping the Stars here iin the 1st damn place

I don't like this North Stars comment!

Citing rising construction costs, Wilf again stressed urgency for approving the plan in 2008 to allow the new stadium to open in 2012. He mentioned the move made by the Minnesota North Stars hockey team to Dallas in 1993 as a warning of the danger of waiting.

"We want to learn from those mistakes -- that it's best to make sure we get things accomplished quicker, sooner rather than later, before we can't get it done," Wilf said.

Sounds like an indirect threat to me.
Just putting the possibility of moving the team in the back of everyones mind.

Re: I don't like this North Stars comment!

Sounds a little out of context.
I think he was warning against waiting because it can cause costs to rise to an unacceptable level, like it did in the 90's with the Stars.
I don't think he was threatening to move the team, although I am sure that he had every intention of people making the connection.

I got some positives out of that article though:

After his remarks to the group, Wilf told reporters he expected soon to reveal a financing plan for the stadium, which is part of a larger redevelopment vision Wilf has for the east side of downtown Minneapolis. He did not rule out asking for statewide money.

"We're reviewing all the different options on financing. ... Rather shortly, when we meet with the commission, we'll come forward with a plan that we can all review," Wilf said.
That sounds like a plan is almost ready to be released... Maybe with a financial partner? (hope hope hope hope hope)

And directly saying - the longer they wait to get this done, the more expensive it is going to be - and the closer we all get to 2011, when the Dome lease is up.

Seriously, if Minnesota can't get their -ish together in time to build a stadium by 2012, I wouldn't blame Wilf at all for moving the franchise
