Wikipedia -- Packer Fans at Work?
I was just surfing around, looking at sports stuff, when I get directed to this Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Vikings_sex_scandal
Holy crap, I can't believe this has it's own place in Wikipedia. It must have been put there by Packer fans!-- Sarcasm always turned on --

Re: Wikipedia -- Packer Fans at Work?
more malakies about those stupid boats...
so what would happen if i had a bachalor party.. 4 strippers on the boat.. and lots of tequilla? and say.. we got excited.. would we get the same attention? or would it just go down in history as a great pre wedding party?
this thing will fade away hopefully sooner then later..

The external links look like they're legit from newspapers.
Interesting. It says Johnstone paid for both boats & was to re-inbursed by the rookies, including Troy. There was also names mentioned that I didn't see in any Minneapolis/St. Paul papers
That's new to me. The article was also from Oct. 18 & a lot of different stories were printed early on.
I'll check the web for "new"articles & them post them under an appropriate title.
I also enjoyed this comment from Longwell regarding the Vikings game;
“I think there’s absolutely a danger in underestimating a team like that, because it can be kind of galvanizing (for them), Green Bay kicker Ryan Longwell said. “The only thing they have is each other and the football game, and when everybody on the outside is counting teams out, that’s when they get dangerous. You definitely don’t want to think because of all their distractions they’re going to be easier to play, because that’s certainly not the case.

Re: Wikipedia -- Packer Fans at Work?
I say forget about the whole thing. This is being totally blown out of proportion. I'm not condoning what happened on those two boats, but it's not important enough to merit the media coverage that it ended up getting. It's dying down gradually, but it's still talked about occasionally.
Since I'm not a mod, I'm going to suggest that this thread (and any other threads regarding "the boats") be moved to The Clubhouse section on principle. Some things that football players do have nothing to do with football.

Re: Wikipedia -- Packer Fans at Work?
I always say this about the "scandal", and I'll say it again. If the Packers did this, no one would talk about it. I swear everyone who is not a Vikings fan hates the Vikes.
How about the Bears that got in a fight. They're starting center got beat up by a teammate, and is now out for the season. If this happens to the Vikings it's all over ESPN.

Re: Wikipedia -- Packer Fans at Work?
While I am not a huge fan of the coverage and such, this post just shows why it gets the coverage ... people will talk about it and pay attention to it. By the way ... it is HIGHLY news worthy based on the fact that there was an INCIDENT!!! You are right, if other teams did this it would not get coverage because they would not be stupid enough to do it in this manner. As a matter of fact, other teams do do it, and the Vikings have done it a number of times and nothing has been mad of it before because they did not A) Do it after being asked to stop before B) Request acts from crew of a cruiseliner before C) perform acts as such on SOMEONE ELSES BOAT WHEN THEY DID NOT KNOW IT WOULD HAPPEN.
This is a big deal because there were and still are chances of charges. When rich and famous people do stuff like this and throw money around and flaunt it and then arguably break numerous laws it is NEWSWORTHY and would get equal coverage if it was any other team.
And the Bears thing has been ALL OVER ESPN ... jesus people, I know that the boat thing sucks and we have to deal with a lot of snide remarks for being Vikes fans, but that does not change the fact that it was a newsworthy story that would be picked up by every media market no matter what team it was ...
