    Why so irrational?

I go away for the weekend to New York and come back only to find that everyone on PP.O is ready to jump off of a bridge, call it a season, and fire Childress. Do I always have to be the voice of reason and keep people in check?

    Part one:

Brad is not done quite yet, but if or when he is, we have a solid backup plan.

Everyone on here is constantly calling for Brad's head and want him replaced with Tarvaris Jackson. I wouldn't mind seeing him replaced, but rather with the other guy who stands on the sidelines all game. Yes, Brooks bollinger.

Why he is overlooked? I don't know. He was solid in his short stint in new york starting nine games and throwing 7 TD's with 6 INT's. Keep in note that this was a horrendous Jets team last year with one of the most porous offensive lines in the NFL.

We're in a similiar situation to the Cowboys right now. Our o-line isn't getting protection, however they can't be held accountable for everything when they have ol' frankenstein back there throwing the ball. The West Coast offense is based on short, quick passes and brad is taking way too much time to throw the ball in that sort of system. The few jets fans that i talk to were extremely angry that the team was giving away Bollinger, especially because they thought he was the future of the offense in New York.

Now I wouldn't go so far as to say that Bollinger can save this team but if things get any worse than they already are, it wouldn't be a bad idea to see a fresh face that we haven't heard much about in there.

    Secondly

Why is everyone still complaining about our Wide Recieversa and how terrible of a job they did the other day? I thought that Billy McMullen and Bethel Johnson did an amazing job of hanging on to the ball during the game. Sure, Williamson still sucks but what can ya do... He has so much pressure on him every time he has the pass come his way that he can't help but drop it any more. He's doomed from the start sadly enough.

Marcus Robinson will hopefully come back and be the #1. It will be a warm welcome but if McMullen and Johnson can play like they did the other day we'll be fine if brad can get them the ball.

    And finally...

Did anyone not expect this to happen? Look.. we're vikings fans. As much as we hate to admit it, we're the butt of all the jokes in the NFL. We're one of two teams that have lost 4 super bowls but have never won one. This is EXPECTED. Especially with a first year head coach. If you expected a super bowl win this year you were on the OTHER side of the irrationality.

So please, get your act together and quit crying about how we're never going to be good with Childress as coach. We're still in the thick of things and if we get a few lucky wins we could be talking playoffs. Of course we could have a few unlucky losses and be talking draft but lets keep the optimism up.

As i've said before, what goes around comes around. Tarvaris will start next year hopefully. The o-line problems will be fixed in the offseason. The team will make runs for Drew Bennett and company along with others in the draft.

46 years and counting.. we can wait one more can't we?

Brooks is over looked because someone made something up about him being short and people think one bad season with the jets end your career.
I've been waiting for him for 2 games & fear I'll keep waiting.

WR still suck & can't catch.
Finally BC gave someone else a try & we had better results.
So our back ups are ok but our 1-2 are crap.

We are NFL fans, we have the right to beeyatch about things and make knee-jerk reactions.

    Re: Why so irrational?

    He's 6-1...that's not that short.

Mark Brunell is 6-1 he was a good Pro-Bowl QB for most of his career.
Jeff Garcia is 6-1 he was ok for a while in San Fran went to a few Pro-Bowls
Bruce Gradkowski is 6-1 he's not doing to bad for the Buc's...even though they are losing.
Rex 'overrated' Grossman is 6-1 had to put him in here.
Michael Vick is 6-0 he's ok.

There are also a number of starting QB's at 6-2, 1" taller. So what the hell does it matter how tall he is.

    Good post PPE.

Nice post PPE, just lay off the 'everyone' in your summaries.
Truthfully, there are only a few that are in panic mode and wear their emotions on their sleeve and spout off irrational statements at every opportunity.
With the diverse membership at PP.O we can usually get the truth somewhere in the middle of the opinions posted.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

    It is definatley the minority.

I don't know if we are supposed to call each other irrational or tell each other to get your act together.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion regardless of how horribly wrong it is
    ;D

That being said people will cry. That is the norm, they did it with Tice, they did it with DC, they did it with everything. There will always be doom and gloom.

Oh my god I was in a panic, I was irrational and I was running around screaming and yelling uncontrollably until I read PPE's post and then I just calmed down because he is the voice of reason and he has put me in check!

    ?
You must've talked to a few crack heads because Chad Pennington is about 10X better than Bollinger ever thought about being.
The best part of my day is when I get down on my knees, with my head in my hands, and thank GOD for everything he has given me.
