Why the Oakland Trade Makes Sense

That would possibly be one of the worst trades in NFL history. Philip Buchanon has a history of injury and to be honest not that good. The Oakland Raiders pass defense was almost as pitiful as the Vikes. They were 28th in the league in PYG(Vikes were 29th). Stats don't lie and with a corner like Charles Woodson on the other side, he doesn't live up to the hype. Besides this is the NFL there are rarely any trades let alone involving star players and top 10 drafts choice. We should stop talking about the stupid trades that will never happen.

Why would you trade a proven player player like Moss for an unknown like Mike Williams who hasn't seen a football field in a year?

Why the Oakland Trade Makes Sense

#1: The trade is not going to happen.

#2: If it did, it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Lets talk about the picks before we start talking about the player trade...

We have two first round picks. #7- Mike Williams is gone at #4 to the bears so we shouldn't be talking about that even.

The other WR left is Braylon Edwards. Say we don't do that and we draft a defensive lineman (Because Tice will not draft secondary in the first round). We do need a DE. Erasmus James is available. I would hate to see a D-Line pick at 18th because I dont think it would be worth it. So...a #7 DE pick would be smart. It will anchor the line down more for next season. I would like to see Braylon Edwards drafted here though.

On the the 18th pick. Again, we will not draft secondary here. Since we need a WR we pick...I think the next best one in the draft is Troy Williamson out of South Carolina or Roddy White of U.A.B. Williamson played in the SEC which is the toughest conference in the NCAA in my opinion. He is very fast and explosive and has good size. I see him doing well in the pros. Roddy White is a playmaker and was accustomed to catching deep balls in college. Either way...I think it is a good pick.

Then second round we grab a safety. Jammal Brimmer,Ernest Shazor, Josh Bullocks and Brodney Poole are left.

Third round...we need a kicker but Nugent is gone already. So we pick up either another CB or a safety depending on if we sign Offord or Russell back this season.

In the fourth or fifth round I see us grabbing another WR. I would like to see us grab Roscoe Parrish from U of Miami. I think he would be an upgrade over Kelly Campbell by far.

As for Buchanon...He would be a good #2 corner to line up with Winfield.
We should sign Brian Williams back also. Maybe let them fight it out in camp. If we drafted a CB in the third like Fabian Washington or Antonio Perkins we would have great speed and they could all battle for spots in the CB position.

In the FA pick up a good Linebacker and sign Chris Claiborne back. We would be fine with that next season. Not many teams could compete with us I don't think.

Oh Yeah, not to mention what we might get if we trade Bennett.

Actually at 18 I bet they go Channing Crowder ILB Florida. Or even Kevin Burnett if he slips a bit. If you did get the #7 you would have a good shot at Derrick Johnson (Texas) but he is projected to go as high as #3 to the browns.

Derrick Johnson is awesome. So yeah...but I think he goes before that. Channing Crowder is solid also. I watched him for 2 years now here at UF. (I'm from Gainesville) But like I said...if we can get a solid veteran linebacker in FA, lets spend some picks on something else that we havent picked the last 2 or 3 years.
