Well, I seem to remember many dropped passes for Wideouts and even 3 TDs from our starting tight end. This area will be shored up this year !!
Seriously how many times do I have to post this? It was only 2 drops!

Just a question but if a WR or TE drops a ball, is it always his fault and never the QB's ? Isn't the job of the QB to throw the ball so that is it on target and catchable ? If you throw a short pass too hard, it might technically be right "on target", but still is not that catchable.

I think you answered your own question and it depends on the situation. Dropped balls has been the "thing" here lately dating back to Brad Johnson's later days with us. Tarvaris has known to put a little to much zip on passess but I think he's evolving as far as touch is concerned and I havn't seen alot of uncatchable fast balls.

    It is totally possible.

We still need to play all 16 games yet.
We probably need to win a minimum of 9.

I am not worried about the QB in our division though.
I am more worried about our D.
If we are giving up the passing yards like last year, we will be a borderline playoff team at best.

    More worried about the D.

Granted we haven't played a single regular season game yet!
Why are you more worried about the D?
The D was tied for 11th in 2007 for the least amount of points given up, the only stat that really matters.
They made improvements in the offseason.
I am not worried about the D at all....unless the injury bug keeps biting.
    Yes the injuries is one.
The positive additions to the D this season to make it better are almost nullified by the injuries.
Allen is still Allen, but the depth on the D line is depleated.
M-Will will have to get into the swing of things when he is full strength.
I hope there is surprise player on the D this year

Strength of schedule this year, I think we are playing the 4th hardest schedule.
I saw them put it on the screen during the Steelers game, I think it was 4th.

My rationale is based on fear that we will not be better.
Our O will not be the make and break of this team.
It will be a balanced defense.

The last part of my illogic is this.
We have been thought to be trying to build a Raven like D or at least the Tampa 2 equivalent.
    LOL!
Anyway, that is our strength and that is what we are hanging our hat on.
If they perform less than last year or have a more difficult season against better opponents, that will hurt us more than if the O has glitches.
It is the D that let the Offense grow last year.
They will need to help the O through those struggles again.

OK my argument did circle back to the O but I think that the D is still weighted higher in the winning process.

In the end the only stat that matters is the final score.

The injuries really are not that big of a deal especailly defensivly, we have all of our starters expect Williams at Safety but Tyrell isn't missing a beat. Even then Williams is expected back in three weeks while Brian Robision is already practicing. I think injuries could really hurt a number of teams in the NFL, especailly along the fronts. None of the guys we have on the line have history of missing games due to injury. I think thats a positive.

I feel confident in this team so the numbers that indicate our schedule strength mean nothing. We need to beat the best to be the best, bring em on.

I don't see how we can't be any better. I think we are better with just last years experience and the additions aside. Throw in a guy like Jared Allen and the list of Pro Bowlers continues to grow.

I agree that the defense will have to be stout but thats what we pay those guys to do. I think its important we get our weapons on the feild, most notably Sidney Rice who must play. If we can stay healthy on offense points should be easy to come by, we have talent that is very hard to defend and a scheme thats very difficult to defend, executed correctly.

The only thing I worry about this year is Injuries and its probably the only thing that can stop us.

I personally used to think it was nuts to carry 19 safeties at once on an NFL team, but I am now starting to see the logic of it... ;D

Because there is a saying, "If you can touch it, you can catch it".

True, I could state reasons why any team might not make the playoffs, why is this thread even here?
