There is not a great team in the NFC.
    2.
Our Defense will be better than last and keep us in games.
    3.
We are going to wear out the oposition with a bruising running and short passing game.
    4.
We will sweep the Pack and the Lions, and split with the Bears.
    5.
Longwell will have win three games on last second kick
    6.
It happens every year, I start to believe again.
    7.
Chili is going to prove me wrong.
He is going to do an exceptional job.
Isn't that what we tried to do last year? Look where that got us. I hope your right though.
Problem is we didn't have the play makers to give us a couple big plays in the process.
WCO has always been a great system but not when it is neutered by the lack of talent.

Lets be real for a moment.
We all like Chester but he is a 3rd down back.
He lacks the big play ability to be a starter on a winning team.
It is why the Ravens chose to let him walk instead of overpaying to keep him.
Now sure he would bust a big run once in awhile but he completely lacks the speed to take it the distance unless the defense completely screws up.

Adrian Peterson is the complete opposite.
I keep hearing doubters mention that teams will stack the box against us and I cannot help but laugh.
The left side of our line has a year under its belt, Tony Richardson will be back, and you want to stack the box?
Sure go ahead and do that but if AD gets even a glimpse of day light he will be off to the races.
Those 20 or 30 yard chunks of yardage that Chester got will be 50 yard gains.
Stacking the box may work if all we have at running back is Chester, Moore, or Pinner but your asking to eventually give up a big chuck of yardage when you have a back with the speed and agility of Peterson.

    Then you have quarterback.
Brad Johnson probably knows the game better or just as good as any top tier quarterback in the NFL.
The problem is father time has long since passed him up and he cannot cut it as athlete in todays NFL.
I mean come on, Pat Williams could probably beat Brad in a foot race.

From a mobility standpoint, Brad made our lineman's job a living hell.
They knew he was unable to scramble and it made keeping pressure off him next to impossible.
You watch any of the top teams in the league and I don't care how great of a line they have.
Eventually their quarterback will have to get out of the pocket and pass the ball.
With Brad that was automatically a sack.
I won't even bother talking about the velocity he puts on the ball.

Of course the team has a long way to go but we did do some minor moves that will pay off.
Guys like Billy McMullen (a guy this board went ape-pooh over) proved to be a solid 3rd down receiver for us.
He hardly ever dropped a pass and came up with some big catches to keep the chain moving last year.

Then we signed a Tight End that can actually go down the middle of the field.
Sure he is a question mark but all he has to do is prove that he can be a threat.
We don't need him to have a monster year.
All we need from his is to keep those linebackers honest so that those short drop off passes over the middle to our running backs suddenly become 7-8 yard gains instead of 4-5 yard gains.

Then adding young guys like Rice and Wade to throw to only helps.

Yeah we're not going to win the superbowl but now at least we have young guys with potential that we can sit back and enjoy watching.
Sure they need to grow and mature but that is fine because we know that once they get there then we will have a great team.
I don't think we had much hope of that last year.
    Good post Freakout.
I do have to disagree with you in one aspect.
I don't think you give Chester Taylor enough credit. He is better than a 3rd down back.
How many 3rd down backs rush for 1200 yards in a season?

Also, he does have the big play capability.
    He had a 95 yarder.
He also had a 65 yarder called back due to penalty.
The issue with the team is there was a lot of inconsistencies which helped defenses key on certain areas.
All they really need is that threat that can catch the ball as well as work on penalties and they are a much better team.
I know there are a lot of questions right now.
However, they were in a lot of close games last year where one play here or there won or lost the game.
Unfortunately, last year those plays mostly fell against the Vikings.
Optimistically, I would like to think that can change this year.
Therefore, realistically there is that chance they finish with 10 or 11 wins.
Obviously there's that chance they finish with 10 or 11 losses too.
Let's just say they are a middle of the pack type team and with a surprise or tweo coming from those question marks they can be contenders.
Look at New Orleans last year.
    Everyone thought they would suck.
i also think chester is more of a 3rd down back... he had 1200 yards yeah, but he also had over 300 carries.. and only had 6 td's.

    Thanks josdin00

    OMG!

    Dudes!

Do any of you realize that you can edit quotes?

For example, "Axel goes on and on and on and on" but there is a singular point you wish to highlight.

So after you hit the "Quote" button, delete (backspace) the superflous crap before you post.

Then you follow up with comments about jock-strap sniffing, et al.

    Billy Boy, you are off-topic.

If the young QB can connect with his receivers, watch out!

Then eleven wins are not out of any set of reasonable expectations.
