At Mall of America Field, I pick the Vikings.
In the Superdome, I probably pick the Saints.

. Watching that change-of-pace backfield approach makes me wonder if the Vikings might need to look for a third running back after the season. Give themselves someone with a different style than Peterson and Chester Taylor.

    Percy Harvin, anyone?

Drew Brees is as close to perfection as a quarterback can get. He never seems to throw a ball that isn't perfectly placed.
Brees' 6 perfectly placed INTs, compared to Favre's deflected 3 INT's.
BTW both Favre and Brees have 16TD's too.

Favre is right there with Brees, and FAR better in TOs
Comp Pct Yds TD Int Rate FUM Lost
    Favre 68 1,925 16 3 106 1 1
    Brees 68.3 2,006 16 6 107.6 6 3

Saints will need 3 RB's to come close to matching AD

Vikes receivers are right there with Saints receivers

Player Rec Yds Yds/Rec Long TD
    Sidney Rice 37 585 15.8 63 2
    Percy Harvin 28 369 13.2 51 3
    Bernard Berrian 27 299 11.1 36 3

    Marques Colston 36 551 15.3 40 6
    Jeremy Shockey 31 376 12.1 66 3
    Devery Henderson 23 358 15.6 58 1

Both Vikes and Saints have faced 3 top 10 defenses.

Saints defense has faced only 1 team with a top 10 offense, the Giants at #5
Vikes have had 4 games against top 10 offenses, Steelers (#6), Ravens (#7), and Packers (#9) twice.

All in all I'll give the nod to the Vikes, regardless of home turf since they are both domes.

Atlanta almost took the Saints out with a power running back, underachieving wideouts and a solid QB, backed by middle of the road defense.

Vikings win in a stroke inducing pulse-pounder that comes down to the wire. Then move on to the Superbowl for a much anticipated rematch with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I think right now the Saints secondary is better. I really hope we get to see a NFC championship in Minny. I don't think we can take them in their house. Should be a great game to watch if it happens. Hard to pick right now.

I've put some (not to much though) thought into this......

The Pats, Falcons and Cowboys sure have alot to say in were we might meet my friend.
Only 3 that I think they stand a chance of getting tested on.

Lets hope a team like the Panthers pull one out of thier arse and give us one we aren't counting on.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

    Favre finds their holes

Allen and company get to Brees before he can throw long.

Saints have 17 sacks, Vikes have 31.
Favre will have all day, while Brees will have to throw fast not getting down field for his speed receivers.

I think Vikes pass rush and forcing fumbles will balance Saints secondary and INT's.

Z, I'm shocked you didn't comment on this portion of the article...

Namely, it was New Orleans' inability to stop running back Michael Turner, who ran for 151 yards on 20 carries for a 7.6-yard average. A couple of times, our old pal Darren Sharper appeared to want no part in tackling Turner. He was in position to make one of those undercut tackles that the great safeties -- or Antoine Winfield -- routinely makes. But Sharper wouldn't leave his feet. The one time, Sharper came up, paused and then basically ran alongside Turner into the end zone. Darren did, however, come up with his seventh pick of the season later on.
    Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

    Vikings.

We will have trouble covering their weapons, but Drew Brees has been sacked 11 times this year. Atlanta and Miami were able to make him play poorly at times, by putting pressure on him. We shut down their patchwork running game and pressure Brees all day long.

We also have the RB necessary for long, clock consuming drives. A ball control offense will keep their offense off of the field. They won't stop Peterson, and their secondary can't tackle elusive guys like Berrian, Harvin, and Taylor.
