Being that this list is who WILL be the coach ... and not who do I WANT to be the coach ... Childress should get all the votes.
I am pretty sure Wilf is going to stick with his guy unless we end up like 4-12 (which I guess is not impossible). I remember a couple of years ago under Tice when we started 2-5 and everyone said it was over ... but we finished strong at 9-7 and almost snuck into the playoffs ... not likely, but could still happen.
I think 6-10 or better and Chilly gets another year. But I hope we end up with Marty (and would love Martz as well, though I know that is not a popular sentiment).

Here is a interesting point of view one of our local editors in Tennessee placed on coaching replacements and I agree with what he is saying. If you have coaching issues you make the change reguardless who is interested. This makes perfect sence to me because if there was no problem with a coach your not looking anyway. Reguardlless of what I want to happen, I think Childress is in real trouble if he doesn't show a glint of progression throughout the rest of the season. I like Marty and Cowher, but i think they are a pipe dream. There was a rumor started here about John Gruden being the next Tennessee coach because he bought property here. Just another pipe dream. Aint gonna happen. I am ready for Bud Grant ! LOL

PHoD, the grass is not always greener elsewhere.

Weeds in the lawn is no reason to tear up the whole yard and the neighbors to put his grass in your lawn.

Your number one guy, Cowher had 10 plus years to get his team serious.
Even then, it was a conservative football scheme.

Our team is at the pre-Maddox insurance selling days.
We have years of development to go through before we are going to be a serious contender team.

LOL, even if we hired Parcells, it would be 3 years before he could lay the entire ground work for another coach to come in and take it over.

I am pretty sure Childress will be gone this offseason.

    Why?

The team is losing and losing ticket sales.

I guarantee if we were losing but were still selling out every game, Childress would be back.

An owner won't fire a coach based on angry people on message boards, talk radio, or newspapers. But an owner (IMO) will give in to a lack of ticket sales and unrest within season ticket holders.

Not buying a ticket is a way of protesting. I don't plan on making Zygi think I am happy with the current situation, therefore I will not be buying anymore tickets this season.
IMHO one of the best posts in this thread.

I for one like continuity at the HC position.
At some point the bullet needs to be bit and someone needs to be here for the long run. Is Chiller the right guy for the job?
Who knows, but I am tired of starting over.
Lets see what they guy can do next year.

    I voted.

Brad Childress(He aint going no where. He needs more time. This is a stupid thread to start. I've lost all respect for you PHoD)
And no I haven't lost respect for you my friend.
    ;D
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

It is definately going to take time no matter who is in charge. Right now I am worried that we will not make the playoffs in '08. I do not think we can do that with our current QB situation. If they are going to ride TJ out we need a seasoned vetern during his developmental process.

Is it the coach or draft picks not panning out? i.e. McKinney, Williamson, TJ, Udeze, Griffin, James etc.

Our best players seem to all be FA's less AP of course.

I actually thought Tice had us headed in the right direction.
I've been a Viking fan since I was just out of diapers, hopefully we get Super Bowl win before I go back in 'em.

    I can't vote yet.

As long as we post a winning record, Childress will not only be back, but he will have my full support.
However, we are only 3 losses away from not being to make that goal, and there is still a lot of football left.

Zigi is a complete failure as an NFL owner so far.
The best thing he could do right now if fire chilly and name one of the assistants interem head coach.
Watch peterson on the sideline during the 2 minute drill at the end of the second quarter was painful.
I mean come on this invalid is still calling Peterson a back-up, I dont know any other team that uses there ace RB to return Kickoffs this aint the super bowl chilly.

    This is a common response.
Looking back and trying to justify past performance when you are unhappy with the current state.
But that simply isn't true either.
Tice didn't have us headed anywhere - that was the problem.
He was simply trying to keep Denny's schemes in place - like someone with no automotive knowledge keeping a race car together with duct tape.
It may have kept it from falling apart, but it was barely a shadow of its former self, and it wasn't going to win anything.

Childress has yet to prove to me that he is any better than Tice though...
