I read somewhere a couple weeks back that on obvious passing plays there's a good chance we'll see Johnstone and Udeze on the ends with K-Will and D Scott in the middle. That is fine but on first and second down when Scott is in there, he'll most likely be on the outside.
That's what I meant by Scott being a pass rushing DT. I don't want him out there at RDE on 1st and 2nd down and then playing inside on 3rd down. I think he could be a force, coming in fresh off the bench as a pass rushing DT, much like Johnstone is best as a situational and fresh pass rushing DE. I think he will wear down and not be very effective, if he is in at DE and DT. I would only use Scott at DE, on obvious running downs.

Smoot, We're on the same page as far as not playing every down but don't be suprised to see him play a little of both. Especially if James starts at end over him.

Re: Who should start at Right Defensive End?
Johnstone is not an every down player, period. He will not start.
Darrion has a good shot at starting at the beginning of the season because of time Erasmus missed, but erasmus should start at some point in the season.

Re: Who should start at Right Defensive End?
I know Johnstone is an excellent pass rusher, so maybe we will see him on the 3rd and longs?

Re: Who should start at Right Defensive End?
im thinking we start james with scott spelling him, but when it comes to 3rd and long or the occasional 4th and long, we use johnstone.

Re: Who should start at Right Defensive End?
This is a great conversation. We have so many options on our D-Line its awesome.
Have Johnstone do whatever he did last season. If its only playing 3rd downs, fine. Having a cup of coffee during halftime, eating wheaties during timeouts, whatever. I wanna see double-digit sacks from him again. Otherwise, I see James as our man.
Isn't one of these guys going to spell Udeze too? We have the chance to see both Johnstone and James in on some passing situations. That would make a great Farve sandwich."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

Re: Who should start at Right Defensive End?
Let's just play a six man defensive front, then they all can play!!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

Re: Who should start at Right Defensive End?
I honestly don't mind who plays at RE as long as we are chosing the right player and winning, Weather thats Erasmus or Scott im cool with that. Erasmus would be better though I think because he is a pure pass rusher.

Re: Who should start at Right Defensive End?
im a huge erasmus fan and i think he has done fine so far so i think he should start, i hate splitting time at any position, but im fine with lance coming in every now and then because he is a sack monster but i dont see him as an every down DE
