Re: Who gives a crap Childress wanted to end the game?
Bro, you might find that you are in minority on this one. I thought that Childress did the right thing.

Getting?I thought once the preseason started we wouldn't be inventing topics anymore to fill the time.
I forgot that we do that 24/7/365.
I must be getting old.

So we'd lost our #1 pick to injury - now confirmed for the season- and you'd prefer that we'd gone into OT to knock heads some more ?Ok wow.
So Childress wanted to end the game.
Who cares!
The Vikings had an amazing last drive and got into easy field goal range, especially for Longwell, and whoever chose the plays decided to go for it.
They not only went for it, but ended the game in an interception!
Who agrees with me that even the preseason should be played a little more competitively than that?

Re: Who gives a crap Childress wanted to end the game?
Yeah, I definitely think you're in the minority here. There was no need to play any more of that game. We saw what we wanted from the players, the game doesn't count for anything, and we already had one big name go down to injury. The big debate on ESPN right now is whether or not they should shorten the preseason, and you want them to play more? Like someone mentioned (I forget who), the games are meaningless. Childress absolutely did the right thing. If you're in desprate need of bragging rights over a raiders fan, you can always mention that our starters beat their starters 7-6.

I agree! He just better not do that during season games!I don't agree with you.
Pre-season is MEANINGLESS.
Imagine if the Vikes tie the game, lose the coin-flip and then Ryan Longwell gets seriously injured on the kick-off.
That would suck a billion times more than losing a MEANINGLESS game.
Did I mention that that game was MEANINGLESS?

I'm still confused on if he wanted us to kick the field goal or not.

Re: Who gives a crap Childress wanted to end the game?
I'm glad Childress didn't prolong a meaningless game.
The issue is with the league, not Childress.
The league hypes up these pre-season games like they mean something, and the league makes sure the tickets are charged at full price.
Since I have season tickets I paid $444 for 4 tickets to this game.

Seems I agree with most of the opinions of this thread . . . in that I don't give a crap about the way this preseason game ended.

Re: Who gives a crap Childress wanted to end the game?
I do see your point. But look we lost Greenway on a play.
Do you want to risk another player just so you can say I won a meaningless game?
You took enough snaps to see what players can do.
The preseason is not so much about winning as it's about player evaluation.
You are testing out different ideas in "REAL-TIME".
So no Childress did the right thing.
