Thread: Where will Williamson play next season?

After three years, former 1st round pick (7th overall) Troy Williamson would be considered by many (including me) as being a bust.
Last season he had a horrible case of the "dropsies", and despite having the Nike people check his eyes he has failed to establish himself as a legitimate receiving threat on a Viking roster very shallow at that position.
His most frequent appearances now appear to be kick returns - which are less than stellar.

So, considering how much we're doling out for this lack of performance, how likely are the Vikes to cut him loose after this season?
Or, will they stay with him another year?

He will likely be cut.
His cap number is too high to be traded for anything unfortunately (haha, unless the Raiders are interested :P).

3 years of poor production is not what you expect from a top 10 pick, or any pick for that matter.
If he wasn't a #7 pick he likely wouldn't even have been on the roster this year.

Yeah I just can't see what people see in him. And now people are happy he is just learning to catch. Hes not worth upwards of $5 million in cap space.

This is a great example of why you don't draft for need in the 1st round.

Troy Williamson will be a really nice pickup for someone next year. For the Vikings, his cap number is too high and it will most likely be time to cut their losses.

He is a bust here because of his draft position and because he is one of our main receivers. Someone should sign him who has low expectations and is already set at receiver.

He should stay with us and be given another opportunity to show what he can do next season, but with our bad luck history he probably lands on another NFC North team and has a stellar year and great games against us.....??

He should go to the CFL where he would be an "okay" player...seriously,
he may have some speed, but he has not shown much ability to get open, consistently catch a ball and as far as his kickoff returns go...he looks slow, or doesn't know when to turn it on...he's totally a bust for the money that he's making.
He has had his shot and it just didn't pan out.

Is there any way to re-work his contract? Maybe performance based? If T-Will would agree to do something like that, I think it would be good to hang on to him. He has shown improvement, he has amazing speed if he can perfect his routes, and I think he would be a good slot receiver. Now, we do have Aundrae Allison who seems to be a good fit for the slot too, so maybe let the two battle it out, and if Allison wins the spot, T-will is gone.

One of two things will happen:

Either we overpay too keep him and he shows exactly what a bust he is,

He goes elsewhere and has a good career. (Nate Burleson)
