No, we have more talent this year... the coaching remains flat and lackluster.

He has looked MUCH better this year

Last year he made 2-3 boneheaded mistakes a game

Latley we've been seeing 1 or 2 every couple weeks

He is actually adjusting and fitting the schemes to his players

I disagree whole heartedly. I saw at least 3 today that left me scratching my head. Simple things that an NFL level coach should simply not do.

Running a play with 6 seconds and no time outs. It worked out, but could have easily ran out the clock and a chance to win... why take that gamble?

Challenging a clear catch that happened right in front of his eyes.

Not adjusting on defense at all... our secondary looked pretty silly considering it was David Carr throwing him the ball. They ran the same screen play a few times and we couldn't defend it.

We were throwing it to the outside.. Either catch it for 5-10 and get our immediatley.. Or incomplete.. I LOVED the call trying to get it an easier FG

That challenge was worth it.. Maybe he didn't see the play all that well (yes I know he was looking right at it) but sometimes getting a second look can overturn it.. It was a huge play that would have had them punting instead of in our side of the field.. It was a questionable challenge.. Didn't make me yell at all

And we did adjust.. We would play back but they would hit us short.. We would bump but completely miss.. They outplayed us in that aspect.. But he tried EVERYTHING to get pressure.. Blitzing corners... LBS.. Safetys

You can disagree that's fine.. I just see improvement and adjustments.. Some don't.. Thats fine

I was hoping to get Dallas, I think AP can run at will against them.
But they run the slant a lot, and we seem to be unable to defend that play against anyone.
However, they also have an outstanding pass rush which could rattle Jackson.

Philadelphia could easily confuse Jackson with their zone blitzes and different looks on D.
I think their run D might be better than Dallas, at least in not allowing the big plays.
Our D seems to struggle with mobile QB's, so I could see McNabb having a good game against us.
But McNabb seems to have become more of a pocket passer the last few years, Romo may actually be more athletic at this point in his career.

At least it's at our house.
I just hope we don't come out and lay an egg.
Hopefully today's win, builds some confidence in a lot of our players who've never been in the playoffs, and they can settle the nerves a little and come out and make us proud to watch.
    Very nice analysis.

I would like to add one other item of concern.......

    Westbrook.
Lets hope they have Chad spy him the whole game.
    That's a good point too.
You shut down Westbrook, you shut down the Eagles offense.
    Their defense scares me though.
I noticed we tried, unsuccessfully, to run a few screens today, and Jackson had the ball exposed on those plays.
If we run any screens, we need to execute to perfection, or it could be an easy turnover for Philly.

It just doesn't matter what you say V4L.
CMac will hate on Childress even if we won the superbowl.
The play they ran with 9 seconds left did nothing to hurt them.
The play was designed to either be caught OOB or be incomplete OOB.
Either way the worse that could happen is they get a closer shot at the FG.

People here just blame Childress without knowing adjustments and how they work.
    Let's go by facts here.
The Vikings are 10-6 and in the playoffs.
They are the 3rd seed in the NFC beating out 12 other teams in the conference.
They beat both the 1 and 2 seeds this year.
David Carr is a capable QB that threw for over 3500 yards in 2004.
Childress has improved every year since being a HC.
    Keep scratching your head CMac.
You have no basis at this point for your argument except pure speculation and opinions on your part.

Carr is a capable QB? Is that why he's starting in the NFL?

I have been neutral on Childress and while the season looks good on paper we did have some ugly wins, today included. The clock management at the end of today’s games says alot about Childress and T-Jack. When my 13 year old daughter, who can't name 5 NFL teams looks over at me and says “I think they should make it so the players can see how much time is left in the game" you got problems. Clearly no one in a leadership role was thinking ahead. I can't be sure but it looked like T-Jack walked over to Wade (I think) to congratulate him on that sideline catch while precious seconds ticked away. Based on what I saw today and the very basic play calling over the season I would support a change.

It was NINE seconds and no timeouts and he clearly told T-Jack that if it was there get a few yards, but read it quick and throw it away if not.
The challenge is not that big of a deal. Coaches do that somewhat regularly. Sure, he shouldn't have done it, but it was worth the shot that maybe the ass hit the sideline.
Now, the lack of adjustments on defense is definitely worth noting. I am pretty sure the Giants offense ran three different running plays and three different passing plays the entire frickin game and we had WAY too much trouble.

The Vikes hold the edge in the series, 11-10, but unfortunately, most of the eleven wins came back in the 60s when we actually had a real head coach.
Not to mention a good team he could coach..... ;D
You need to face the fact that Childress is an awful coach and stop trying to blame a different person every week.

I'm guessing your statement above (not really guessing... just repeating your words) is saying we don't actually have a good team, but the coaching is good?
