What's the 98 deal?
I started to really root hard for the Vikes at the beginning of the 98 year. I had been kinda a fan before then because my mom was die hard. In fact, I learned all my cuss words from watching what she would say when the Vikings did poorly. Anyway, what's the deal with the undercurrent of disdain for the 98fans?-Yeah you like that fancy smancy Anglish right thurr?
Wait, if there's cat food in this bag............................
I HAVE TO CHECK ON JOLLY!!!!

At the beginning of that season I lived in Michigan.
I went to the bar every Sunday to watch the Vikings on a TV in the corner by myself.
By the end of the season, the Vikings were on the Big Screen and the bar was filled with people who claimed to be "Vikings Fans".
Where were they when we sucked?

Re: What's the 98 deal?
But hey, I'm sure every fan that roots for his team had to be attracted to them some how. I probably wouldn't have become the fan I am now if they didn't go through their sucessful phase. Maybe not, my Mom probably would've disowned me if I rooted for someone else.

Re: What's the 98 deal?
Because Moss was drafted by the Vikings in '98,
silly.
And it's well documented that most older fans don't like Moss.

I was atracted to the "Minnesota" part. It could have been the Minnesota Kangaroos for all I care. Which goes waaay back to an old thread about being a fan if the team moved to a different state...Heck NO!But hey, I'm sure every fan that roots for his team had to be attracted to them some how. It's not that we do not like him; we just do not associate him as the "face" or the Vikings historically like many post '98 fans do.
That's all.
